Veronica and Boris are blissfully in love, until the eruption of World War II tears them apart. Boris is sent to the front lines…and then communication stops. Meanwhile, Veronica tries to ward off spiritual numbness while Boris’s draft-dodging cousin makes increasingly forceful overtures. Winner of the Palme d’Or at the 1958 Cannes Film Festival, The Cranes Are Flying is a superbly crafted drama, bolstered by stunning cinematography and impassioned performances.

Release Notes on Restoration
The Cranes are Flying
The Cranes Are Flying is presented in its original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.33:1. This new digital transfer was created on a high-definition Spirit Datacine from a new 35mm composite fine-grain print made by Mosfilm, Russia. To further enhance the image, MTI Digital Restoration System was used to remove thousands of instances of dirt, debris, and scratches. The soundtrack was mastered at 24-bit and restored using audio restoration tools to remove clicks, pops, hiss, and crackle.
