What makes you say it could be a problem? are there no available source prints? I hope it has all four of them in it, it wouldn't be worth releasing without Man Without a Map would it? I've been dreaming of this boxset for a few years now...Steven H wrote:This big question about this isn't whether it will come out, it's whether it will include Man Without a Map. Second, no UK release. Third, the R2 Japan box set had this one without subtitles (which implies rights issues.) I hope it's included, the Japanese disc of this looks gorgeous... but you never know in the murky world of video rights.ptmd from Forthcoming thread wrote:According to Richie, plans are in the works for a Teshigahara/Abe box set that will include Woman in the Dunes, The Pitfall, and The Face of Another.

I found some interesting documentary extras that could possibly be included on a Salo re-issue.
Salò Documentary (2001) by Mark Kermode
Pier Paolo Pasolini e la ragione di un sogno (2001)
Pier Paolo Pasolini: A Film Maker's Life (1971)
A futura memoria: Pier Paolo Pasolini (1986) - Another documentary by the same director appeared on Mamma Roma.
Whoever Says the Truth Shall Die (1981)

Speaking of Boxes, two things...
1. I heard that Linklater is releasing a third installment of the Before Sunrise series, so that box should be delayed until they can get the third movie to include in the trilogy...it does not make sense to release only the first two and then have to purchase a studio release without all the CC benefits...the folks at CC should not be so cruel!
2. Another Malle box would be great...but what would the theme be this time around? Documentries? Comedy? American Malle? Let the random speculation on this begin...

i forgot to mention that i had emailed criterion about breathless during summer and they confirmed it will be released in 2007
Dear Edgar,
We do in fact hold the rights to release Breathless. While the film is not on our current release schedule, we hope to have a finished product available some time next year.
I hope this helps, and please feel free to contact us with any future questions or concerns.
Best,
Matt Lipson

I'll believe Breathless is coming when I see it...but why not do something different and include the Richard Gere re-make along with the original?...it gets boring just getting the usual masterpiece time and again...this is a chance for Criterion to show its true colors and justify their status as a top authority on film art...

Dusan Makavejev's WR: Mysteries of the Organism is playing in the current Janus retrospective tour. According to a post in the forthcoming thread, a producer confirmed that Makavejev recorded a commentary track.kaujot wrote:WR?

Jonathan Turell's latest blog post mentions an Andrei Rublev rerelease as an aspiration, which is moderately encouraging. Perhaps Criterion might also be so good as to schedule Ivan's Childhood for distribution in the not-too-distant future.
Well, you do read this forum, don't you?
