No, I had opened a few threads I wanted to read different tabs. After writing that post, I moved onto this thread, saw thebatman97080's post, linked to my other post, and then realized several new posts had come in here since I had originally opened the tab.

DVDBeaver posted screencaps for Bend In The River.

The blu ray re-do is a head scratcher - the underlying restoration is clearly very good, but it's rendered in 1080p. To my eye, it's not a significant step up in quality from the previous disc. Only a more accurate color grading..

I remember some long shots having registration issues that didn't show up in the restoration when I saw it screened at MoMA. I sold my Blu-ray soon after in anticipation of the upgrade, so I can't revisit it, but I think the worst ones were daytime shots when the ship was docked and waiting for its cargo. (That's kind of a long stretch, but it's in the front half of the film.)

I think it's an appreciable upgrade and no one in the UK has bothered with this film in all this time so thank you to Kino for reissuing it again. This is what MoC should be going after instead of Apache and Rio Lobo.

The problem with those releases were the old scans, not the films, IMO (though Bend of the River is better).

Somebody at Kino Lorber really loves Fred Schepisi, but I wish we were getting his Australian films like The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith or Eye of the Storm instead.

IQ was a favorite of mine as a kid. A low-key, charming movie that I’m not sure would hold much interest to me today.

Watched it and you were right. I thought their Dark Side sets were stretching the "noir" categorization but this second French set is really scraping (and I say that as somebody that liked the first set).
