Well of course they didn’t announce. Bressonsaire hasn’t posted yet.

Hey that’s in my predictions! I doubt I’ll get another one correct, so I’ll happily take that

Being OOP & a nice round number for a license to possibly expire.

Wasn’t this a Weinstein Company film? Who would have it now? Unless, Haynes was able to get it back. I see that Studio Canal has the rights in the UK. Hasn’t Criterion gone that route like with Muholland Drive?

I'd be fine with Carol, and I would purchase it, but I'm hoping for Velvet Goldmine if only for the selfish reason that I don't have a bluray of it. It's Miramax, and they just did The Crying Game. Plus, there was that Reddit post where a producer at a new restoration screening mentioned that it'd be released by Criterion.

Kino's BD of Far From Heaven is from 2019 but could be one of those UHD only upgrades if they went for a Haynes/Moore twofer.

Despite loving the glam era & all involved with the film, I was disappointed with the film when it came out. Maybe I'll revisit it one day, but I'd much prefer Carol or Far from Heaven.

I'd love a Mike Mills style 4K box for Haynes, with Safe, Velvet Goldmine, Far from Heaven, Carol, May December.

I'd actually go for that despite not caring for VG, but why skip over so many & just add May December? I would think Poison would have a better shot for an early years box with shorts and ending with FFH minus Karen Carpenter Story (but a girl can dream), and then a solo Carol.

...and that's why there's a guessing thread, so we can crowd source Criterion's releases for them.

I love Poison, but it was just released on Blu by Kino a few years ago, albeit with 4:3 stretching issues. I'd love them to include it in this theoretical box, if they could fix it. Not holding my breath for the Karen Carpenter Story, though it had a recent remaster. May December hasn't had a North American release, so I'd be okay with skipping over some of his lesser films to get that included.

I could see Criterion doing a box with Velvet Goldmine, I'm Not There (if possible to rescue from Weinstein purgatory), and possibly Velvet Underground (not really expecting Superstar anytime soon). Poison and Far from Heaven are with Kino at the moment but they leave much to desire from a transfer standpoint. Carol I could see having a 4K release especially with the recent French release. (and May December does seem to be a likely candidate for the next Netflix title)

I think this and the OOP US bluray bodes well for a Criterion release. What's interesting is the little blurb header of Todd Haynes' closet picks video says he is the writer and director of Safe, Carol and May December. Probably doesn't mean that much

Paramount is scanning all of the surviving It’s All True footage in 4K. I could see this film coming down the pipeline once a totally new reconstruction is done
