Quarantined Monthly Guessing Thread

#1 Post by domino harvey »

Image

Use this thread for all monthly guessing and predictions.

Thread will be unlocked at least three days before the 15th of each month, and locked upon each month's announcement of new titles.

Do not guess ahead for any months beyond the current month-- future speculative guessing posts made beyond the current month will be deleted.

Do not use the Forthcoming Discussion and Random Speculation thread for monthly predictions and guessing of the next month's announced titles. Posts of such nature made in that thread will either be deleted or moved depending on the whims of which moderator spies them first.

If you are a new user with fewer than five posts and your new posts still have to be approved, you may not participate and your guessing posts will not be approved. Sorry, but the moderation is in place so that new members can prove they are capable of contributing actual content and value to the board. If it's really important that you participate in this pointless thread, please make enough actual contributions elsewhere first.

McNulty wrote:December predictions? A Poem Is A Naked Person and the Before Trilogy are coming in 2016, so I think we'll see some more New Year's stuff dropped. I doubt we'll get a boxset in December (Wenders, Kiarostami sets) considering how light a month it was last year. Also, I believe all the monthly clues have been dispersed (except perhaps Midnight Cowboy)

Trying to remember how long I operated under this delusion while guessing the Gorin boxed set in the past-- at least four years, I believe, if not longer

I think Inside Llewyn Davis has been pushed to Feb '16 to get some free cross promotion with Hail Caesar!

It worked for me for La Dolce Vita, Marketa Lazarova, Harold & Maude, and Sunday, Bloody Sunday.
On the other hand, it has yet to succeed for Night Of The Living Dead, The Dekalog, Dogme '95 Box (or at least The Idiots & The Celebration), Rocco & His Brothers, Darling, & Orson Welles' The Trial.

...and I won't mention The Kid, The Tenant, Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown or Querelle one way or the other, as they seem to be rolling out titles now from their respective directors, albeit at a slow pace.

In that case, Cristian Mungiu's 4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days and Beyond the Hills.

Actual predictions:

We'll probably only get four releases, but I'll shoot for five or six anyway.

Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters

And... an inevitable (but welcome) obscure art house feature, perhaps from Criterion's Hulu selection.

I think folks should officially restrain themselves from linking CC with Rocco and His Brothers. THIS IS COMING FROM MILESTONE..

Are we expecting announcements today? Or has the passing of Becker affected that?

I mean Becker would have wanted announcements on schedule, so...
