I'm so pleased that they're drawing attention to the work of the "technical" awards with these extended introductions, but this show is going to be 5 hours long.

same, I'm glad they're getting the love they deserve, but we're in for a long night. an hour in and we've only given out four awardsMatt wrote: Mon Mar 03, 2025 1:00 am I'm so pleased that they're drawing attention to the work of the "technical" awards with these extended introductions, but this show is going to be 5 hours long.

Inshallah - Sean Baker is such a lovely guy. In person, too. Just a peach.

I adore how Baker continues to draw attention to sex workers. Good for him.

Feels like a Moore win is inevitable now, if the last few years are any indication.

Re: Awards Season 2024
agree completely. I went overzealous guessing it to win screenplay, but given the movie got this many nominations and not just a best actress spot for Moore, it seems like she's a shoe in to win. especially with that recognitionsoundchaser wrote: Mon Mar 03, 2025 1:24 am Feels like a Moore win is inevitable now, if the last few years are any indication.

It's possible, but this is also a case where everyone knows The Substance has body horror effects, so I could see folks throwing it this Oscar as a bone too and not voting Moore. At least I feel like it's less predictive than the past few yearssoundchaser wrote: Mon Mar 03, 2025 1:24 am Feels like a Moore win is inevitable now, if the last few years are any indication.

It's especially ironic that this is a dual tribute to the Broccolis, considering they have relinquished their control of Bond to Amazon; feels a little like throwing a party with the family dog before you put it downmfunk9786 wrote: Mon Mar 03, 2025 1:29 am Bezos must’ve paid through the nose for this years-late Bond snoozefest

Now that we've seen who has won in lead roles, I wonder what supporting performances are going to be awarded.

if the "rock legend" that presents best song is Cher or Steven Tyler, then Diane Warren is finally winning

Nice to see a ceremony where they’re not taking snarky takes on what they’re celebrating.Brian C wrote:Couldn't agree more. Amazing tagline at the end, too.mfunk9786 wrote: Mon Mar 03, 2025 1:37 am Fantastic bit about movie theaters. Best segment of the night
