Where is the plant Criterion uses for pressing discs? Isn’t the biggest one most labels use in Mexico? I think we may see some delays everywhere at some point, but I bet they already have stuff in the pipeline for this month at least

If I'm not mistaken, it is the only plant in North America.

I just bought the OOP blu-ray a half hour ago through some kind of masochistic self-flaggetative impulse, so it'll prob happen

Given the three month span between announcement and release, there can still be work that needs to be done on a title after it's been announced (interviews, artwork, etc.). If Criterion anticipates work delays over the next month or two, they may want to avoid making any further release date announcements until there's confidence that workflow can resume.

I’d welcome some influx of lower tier barebones Blu-Ray releases from their copious back catalog

Surely The Last Picture Show's reissue seems like an easy one to toss out there today

I didn’t want to say anything earlier but last Thursday I received an email from them informing me that they would be postponing mailing my free Zeman replacement packaging since their Manhattan office has been temporarily closed.

I thought then this also would affect the coming announcements. Maybe not cancelled but delayed.

Everyone, stay healthy and safe! And watch all the Criterions you still haven’t.

With all this time set aside, it's a good time to check out Until the End of the World in its entirety and get to vicariously travel across the world during this period of isolation! (Also, I sincerely hope we get a lot of new acolytes for La flor with all this down time [-o< )

I have tons of things to watch (luckily enough, I received a whole batch of screeners this couple of past days) but I bought the French boxset last week and it might indeed be the time to look into it !

I was planning on finally getting to War and Peace, but the ILL has shut down now so I can't even take advantage of being locked up. Now, if La flor were streaming for free...

Maybe we get a Satantango boxset announcement and that's it for a few months. That should keep us busy.

Say, aren't the Summer Olympics in Japan this year? I wouldn't be surprised if
Tokyo Olympiad
got a standalone release in the summer.

But my guesses are:
An Unmarried Woman
Agnes Varda box (I can't believe any of the four big boxes hasn't been announced in the first five months! I would expect a delay in one or more at this point.)
Secrets & Lies

Upgrade: An English-language film, since, apart from Salesman, we've had several months of foreign film upgrades (The Cranes Are Flying,
Gaudi, Rohmer)--and the reintroduction of Army of Shadows.

Wrong label. You want the Arbelos thread.

Also I wouldn't be surprised to see the announcements delayed until later in the week as I'm sure they've closed their offices and are still figuring things out remotely.
