Ha, ha!! Frau Blucher and Movielocke, you slay me! Since it was suggested last month, before I could respond, that I am the (I thought mythical) Jon Mulvaney, I’ve done some soul-searching, and I’ve concluded that I read Criterion’s Instagram and Twitter threads too closely as well as scrutinize the New Year’s clue too much, and probably even mull over patterns in the announcements to an unhealthy degree. So this month I just have three guesses, and I’ll give you my reasons beforehand. Someone with a sharp eye observed a while back that Criterion is running through the New Year's Day clues quickly. That seems right, and that clue has two musicals, Swing Time and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Now, what is Criterion’s history with musicals? They've pretty much ignored them. Box sets of Lubitsch and Demy; Threepenny Opera; and The Lure. All released far apart. For two to come along at the same time is extraordinary. I think they'll be released together, twinned as classic Hollywood musical/modern rock musical. My third choice is a Bergman upgrade, which I’ve guessed at before (Movielocke: I’ve been wrong on Bergman releases several times, in addition to The Gospel According to St. Matthew  ). But the pattern since the Bergman box set announcement has been an upgrade almost every other month—the last ones came in December, February and March. Yet there were none announced for April or May, so the long stretch tells me a Bergman is likely. The rest of June is anybody's guess, so if I'm right about these, I'll still be only half right.

Considering it was supposed to come out in March, I wonder if it got folded into the rumored complete works box in the wake of the Bergman success

I think we should block everyone else from posting in this thread and only allow Bressonaire to guess.
