I have "La Naissance des Pieuvres" (stunning picture quality) which I have bought in Germany (this is a great Céline Sciamma box set);
Criterion has some excerpts of "La Naissance des Pieuvres" in the bons of "Portrait de la jeune fille en feu" so I guess it's just a matter of time.
Too bad they choose "Petite Maman" instead of this one.

Adèle Hanael (Adèle I miss you ; I would like to see you back in cinéma; I remember how I was when I saw you in "Les Combattants"); also appear on a short-movie on a Kino Blu-Ray US with the great movie "Mes Provinciales" by Jean-Paul Civeyrac (a great movie, poetic, about cinéma school, reminiscent of "l'homme qui aimait les femmes", with some lyrics and dialogues close to La Maman et la Putain; totally underrated movie and stunning black & white photography). In the short movie, Adèle character meets someone like a french "Dawson" (by Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet aka deux de tension) she is about to going to see a Milos Forman's movie; and they start a discussion about cinéma (the "Dawson" character is more into David Fincher, etc...). I wish I'd know if Adèle's put his ideas into the scenario of this short movie.

Is there a chance Criterion can get the rights of "Ten" (aka "Elle" in France) (1979) by Black Edwards with Duddley Moore, Julie Andrews and... Bo Derek - I love so much Duddley Moore in this movie, and Henry Mancini piano. His quote about the Beatles. The Bolero (even conducted by Frank Zappa in Barcelona in concert in 1988)... the blu-ray is poor in terms of quality. I dream of a 4K transfer.

Considering three of the four new Eclipse sets are directed or co-credited to women, that does seem to be a contributing factor in this revival. What other multi film collections of female-directed movies do Janus/CC hold?

Kira Muratova, though it would be a shame to relegate her films to Eclipse. Still better than no physical media at all!

Oh hell yes – that would be the release of the year. One of the benefits of an Eclipse set would be that it means we get more of her films on disc, rather than just a standalone release of, say, Asthenic Syndrome (as great as that would be in its own right). They’ve never followed up with more Eustache after The Mother and the Whore, so I’d be disappointed to see a similar situation here.

I genuinely believe that Criterion is streaming their out of print editions to tease possible future titles, look at Harold and Maude for example, it was one of the first films as part of the spotlight back in April of this year. So I decided to created a list, using the channel calendars from April to October of this year as reference, of out of print films Criterion streamed so far, these includes laserdiscs titles as well:

Black Day at Black Rock
Harold and Maude
The Man who Fell to Earth
The Elephant Man
Robocop
Dr. No
From Russia with Love
Goldfinger
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Carrie
Flesh for Frankenstein
Blood for Dracula

I want to make one thing clear, not all of the films listed will be bought back in the collection, Amazon will never let go of the James Bond films, VS already did Frankenstein and Dracula, and Arrow has Robocop. I just did it as a fun exercise, and who knows we might see them back someday if not sooner.

Would be nice to see King Kong and Bad Day at Black Rock in the collection.

And then Close Encounters as a Spielberg film in the modern Criterion collection. Maybe a Spielberg set in the future?

Close Encounters has a new restoration so it's probably only a matter of time before Criterion or Sony themselves releases it.

I think Criterion is intent on bringing back as many laserdisc titles they can get their hands on. As indicated above, that’s unlikely to ever include the Bonds, but more likely to include some, but not all remaining WB titles:

King Kong
The Adventures of Robin Hood
Adam’s Rib
Bad Day at Black Rock

Also, many MGM/UA titles could…and are rumored…to return:

The Entertainer ( and other Woodfall films)
West Side Story
Darling
The Producers
Burn

Naturally, the exceptions would include Last Tango in Paris and Annie Hall.

I seriously doubt the following Sony titles are ever returning :

I want the rumors of The Producers to be true, that's the two Mel Brooks films I want Criterion to release. The other being Young Frankenstein.

As my avatar indicates you know which one I want. And it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it happens. I think it's a Brook's film that stands up to the test of time out of all his films

I'd love a UHD set of the OOP Teshigahara set, but all 3 of the films are Toho and I'm not sure when/if they'd get around to doing 4K masters of them. He has a small enough filmography (something like 10 features, a tv movie, 2 episodes of the Zatoichi tv show, and 10 or 11 shorts) that I'd love a complete set of work.
