Tim Curry & Dolly Parton were not the 80-year old celebrity that I was looking forward to seeing in the obituaries this year.

Why is wishing death on someone allowed on here? Couldn’t you just post your tribute without all that maneuvering?

Even if you like this particular personage, can you really blame someone for very, very strongly disliking him?

Her Cologne exhibition just closed 2 weeks ago and set a record for the highest number of tickets for any exhibit sold at the museum.
She also appeared in Tokyo Decadence.

Very sad news. His Seven Samurai and Throne of Blood commentaries are Criterion cornerstones, especially his opening each with an "ohayo gozaimasu minna-san" to the viewer.

His solo track on Seven Samurai is essential, but it is sobering to think that the later second commentary track featured Stephen Prince, Joan Mellen, Tony Rayns and Donald Richie in their rotating cast of commentators. Just David Desser remains from that roster.

I know the Rocky Horror Picture Show was the big one, but I still most fondly remember as a kid first seeing Tim Curry as the Butler in Clue. Plus his devil in the same year's Legend. And then a few years later as Pennywise in the mini-series version of Stephen King's IT (which is still the best adaptation of that material)

And whilst it is going relatively unmentioned, he really seemed to have a ball chewing the scenery and rolling his R's as a Russian general in the FMV cutscenes of the Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 video game from 2008! He was in quite a few video game roles, from voice work in Wing Commander III (not appearing in the FMV cutscenes there, which instead had Mark Hamill and Malcolm McDowell in them), and voicing the main character in the point-and-click Gabriel Knight games (opposite Mark Hamill again in that "Sins of the Fathers" entry)

He also turns up in the Duckman series as the villainous nemesis "King Chicken"!

Also remember him as the dad in Nickelodeon's The Wild Thorn berries.

While Tim Curry was a major part of my childhood from Home Alone 2 and Clue, my first exposure to him was in the cheese-tastic TV movie The Worst Witch. This musical number is greater than life itself.

I've seen several posts elsewhere this morning about David Fair of Half Japanese having passed, but I can't find any obits or articles yet. One of the people who posted this news is Marc Masters, author of High Bias, who knew David and is a source I trust completely about something like this.
