If you ever see that happen, it’s because a certain once prominent member here had all of their posts deleted at their request and that means they previously posted in it

I saw the restoration last week. It's exceptional. Fans of this film will be delighted. This is the first time for me. I love it. It became one of my favorite Viscontis. I have to disagree with those upthread suggesting that Marcello Mastroianni was miscast. For me his wanting to find love made him the most desperate and vulnerable I've ever seen him and he pulls it off. And he does it with that Mastroianni charm, much like a Carey Grant charm that made him able to run the emotional gambit and still maintain his enchantment. The scene in the bar, which had a Fellini feel to me, raised the emotional level that sets up the outcome. Needless to say as I was walking out of the theater on my way to the lobby, I heard much sniffling coming from the seats
