Razor Blade Smile is interesting for starring Eileen Daly. Whilst this was the biggest film she has been in, she is perhaps most notable for around the same period of the mid to late 90s being the woman who would grace the livery of all of Redemption's VHS tapes as the face of the label. Indeed a year or two after Razor Blade Smile she appeared in Nigel Wingrove's (the head of Redemption) naughty nun film Sacred Flesh from the year 2000.

(Although just as noteworthy is that her first onscreen appearance is dancing with Marc Almond in the music video for Soft Cell's Say Hello, Wave Goodbye!)

I've noticed on my Footprint's Blu-ray of the Italian cut, the English dub suddenly changes to the Italian dub for a few lines at 00:16:10 (it's definitely not intentional in the film as the two women were speaking English and just shift mid-conversation). Is this present in anyone else's disc?

Given it’s the Italian cut, I assume those portions of dialogue were never dubbed in English, necessitating the lines be filled in with the Italian dub. I first remember encountering this practise in the early aughts with Anchor Bay’s (remember them?) Deep Red DVD. It was the longer Italian cut, so many scenes were in Italian only.

That will absolutely have been the reason—when trimming the full Italian cut down to a more internationally friendly one, sometimes entire scenes will go, but in other cases it’s just dialogue trims, as would appear to be the case here.

In such circumstances, the label has the choice between presenting separate cuts (possibly via seamless branching, although that’s not always feasible if the editing is complex), or do what they’ve evidently done here, which is to pad out the English track with dialogue from the Italian track in the absence of any viable alternative.

Yes, I have not seen Footprints but there is also the case of the decades old Anchor Bay DVD of the 1975 film Autopsy which also drops into subtitled Italian for a couple of lines too, for a brief extension to a scene which was never in the English dubbed version! Interestingly in that film the couple of lines are relating to the characters theorising that a wave of inexplicable deaths are being caused by a sunspot activity created heatwave which is driving people insane, which is a big part of the opening sequence of that film but otherwise never mentioned again outside of this moment, with the film turning more into your classic giallo mystery! So at least in the case of Autopsy I presume that when it came to doing the English dub they just decided to drop that aspect out altogether by cutting the scene early! Notably the original Italian title of that film is "Macchie Solari" aka "Sunspots"!

Autopsy has the most batshit scene: the police hit on the baffling (and deeply indecent) notion of luring the killer out of hiding by erecting a display in the local mall using the murder victim’s actual charred, disfigured, and I assume decomposing corpse. Cue a scene of mall patrons casually descending an escalator next to a murdered woman’s actual human remains, blissfully unaware of the real nature of the morbid art installation beside them. Maybe the wildest scene in any giallo. I remember the movie also having a very creative structure to distinguish itself from the endless dross in that subgenre.

--EDIT: just realized I confused Autopsy with The Pyjama Girl Case!

This was an odd film to be sure. Depardieu is a cult-like figure in a small town who gradually influences denizens to buy giant dogs for their protection against an alarmingly high rate of rape and robbery. This all becomes too symbolic (dogs=guns) and quite silly at times, but what an odd choice for Severin to license this, as it’s not really a horror movie or exploitation. Having now seen all of his 70s films, I’m not as convinced as the commentator in the extras that this period is a high water mark in Jessua’s career (or that he had a career worth noting with much enthusiasm), but somehow I think a film like this is not going to help get his early films released

I'm really looking forward to more of the black-and-white titles; Motorpsycho looked incredible. The likes of Lorna and Mudhoney are borderline unwatchable in the old analogue SD transfers if you vividly recall seeing them in then-new 35mm prints.

Then in the acclaimed 2025 documentary THE DEGENERATE: THE LIFE AND FILMS OF ANDY MILLIGAN, experience “an eye-opening look into one of the weirder and darker corners of cinema history” (RogerEbert.com). Also included is the early Milligan project COMPASS ROSE and 1979’s rarely seen Staten Island gothic HOUSE OF SEVEN BELLES, plus over 5 combined hours of Special Features that reveal even more of the sordid saga behind “one of exploitation’s most fascinating figures” (Morbidly Beautiful).

ANTONIO MARGHERITI & THE JUNGLES OF DOOM: HIS ‘80s ADVENTURE FILMS [3 4K UHD Films in Limited Edition Collection Slipcase]
“THE INDIANA JONES
OF ITALIAN ACTION MOVIES.”
Monster Hunter

THE MARGHERITI ADVENTURE TRILOGY
housed in a glossy, rigid slipcase with thumb notch

For more than four decades, Antonio Margheriti was a maestro of gothic horror, westerns, giallo, sci-fi and beyond. And in the immediate wake of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, Margheriti directed three over-the-top action-adventure films that can only be described as ‘Indiana Jonesploitation’: In THE HUNTERS OF THE GOLDEN COBRA, David Warbeck and John Steiner star as a pair of WWII rogues in search of an ancient relic with supernatural powers. Warbeck and Steiner return in THE ARK OF THE SUN GOD to raid a mountaintop temple and snatch The Scepter of Gilgamesh. Christopher Connelly and Lee Van Cleef face booby traps, double-crosses and exploding miniatures to hunt a priceless jewel called The Ruby of Gloom in JUNGLE RAIDERS. All three films are newly scanned in 4K from their original camera negatives with 2+ hours of new and archival Special Features curated exclusively for this collection.

THE HUNTERS OF THE GOLDEN COBRA
THE WORLDWIDE UHD PREMIERE

For the first film in his Indiana Jonesploitation Trilogy, Italian maestro Antonio Margheriti (CASTLE OF BLOOD, THE VIRGIN OF NUREMBERG) delivers “full-throttle action” (The Gentlemen’s Blog to Midnite Cinema) starring David Warbeck (THE BEYOND) and John Steiner (NIGHT OF THE SHARKS) as a cocky pair of WWII adventurers blasting their way through deadly traps, double-crosses and daring escapes in search of a supernatural relic known as The Golden Cobra. Almanta Suska (THE NEW YORK RIPPER) and Luciano Pigozzi (STRIKE COMMANDO) co-star in this “fun and entertaining knock-off” (The Grindhouse Cinema Database) from producer Gianfranco Couyoumdjian (ZOMBIE, ALIEN FROM THE DEEP) and screenwriter Tito Carpi (RAIDERS OF ATLANTIS, THE SHARK HUNTER), now scanned in 4K from the original camera negative with over an hour of new & archival Special Features.

For his follow-up to THE HUNTERS OF THE GOLDEN COBRA, director Antonio Margheriti puts a Bondian spin on Indiana Jonesploitation for an Italian/Turkish co-production of “undeniably great fun” (The EOFFTV Review), now in UHD for the first time ever in North America: David Warbeck (THE BEYOND) stars as a master burglar recruited by a wealthy collector (John Steiner of TENEBRE) to raid a mountaintop temple and steal the mythical Scepter of Gilgamesh. But first, this suave safecracker will have to survive car chases, kidnappings, elaborate traps and an ancient curse that promises to destroy anyone who dares to breach the golden tomb. Luciano Pigozzi (ALIEN FROM THE DEEP) co-stars in this “cult fanatics’ lost treasure” (Blood Brothers Films) co-written by Giovanni Simonelli (JUNGLE RAIDERS) and Giovanni Paolucci (SHOCKING DARK), newly scanned in 4K from the original camera negative with an hour of new and archival Special Features plus a Bonus Soundtrack CD.

JUNGLE RAIDERS
THE WORLDWIDE UHD/BLU-RAY PREMIERES

For the final film in his Indiana Jonesploitation Trilogy, director Antonio Margheriti unleashed a “fun and fast-paced” (Good Efficient Butchery) jungle adventure that became a VHS-era favorite, now in UHD for the first time ever. Christopher Connelly (RAIDERS OF ATLANTIS) stars as a cynical safari guide who leads gullible millionaires on bogus treasure hunts in Malaysia. But when a crafty U.S. government operative (the legendary Lee Van Cleef) blackmails him into finding the mythic Ruby of Gloom, they’ll battle death cults, double-crosses, unstable volcanoes and exploding refineries to snatch the jewel from maniacal pirates. Marina Costa (THE FINAL EXECUTIONER) and Luciano Pigozzi (DOUBLE TARGET) co-star in this “utterly charming” (B&S About Movies) action hit written by Giovanni Simonelli (THE ARK OF THE SUN GOD, A CAT IN THE BRAIN) and originally released in America by Cannon Films, newly scanned in 4K from the original camera negative.

I had pre-ordered A Bay of Blood as well, though I had not checked the thread before this so I got the shipping notice e-mail from Severin about the replacement disc as a surprise. So it was good to find that they're sending the replacement disc out to international customers too.

Pretty sure they said that they have so many Jess Franco films in the works but they haven't said that they will all be released this year, just sometime in the future.

Besides the Franco double feature, two other new announcements were a Suzzanna box set and Fulci's Voices from Beyond on UHD.
