They've never supported Sandler before, so either the Academy is going to right its wrongs or continue that pattern. I could see him getting snubbed and Elordi in. I'm also not convinced Byrne is going to be out over Seyfried

I think Elordi’s in and Sandler’s out (even if they do like his movie), I think he’s like Jim Carrey, perpetually unable to overcome his rep. If they like Train Dreams as much as sone of these precursors, Macy could also be a classic “Only at the Oscars” nom here too

Macy would be a fun inclusion, though his role is so small and doesn't 'stand out' enough in this film's overall feel, so I doubt they'll pick him

Biggest surprise of the Oscars shortlists today is Sirat overperforming - it even made the new Casting shortlist, which I’m pretty sure not a soul predicted. Second biggest surprise is Weapons missing Makeup, silencing those who thought Madigan was winning. Seyfried prob missing too because her film made none of the shortlists. And the Academy still loves Wicked…

Wow, very surprising to see Sirat get in, and glad that most of the insane Zionist docs got shut out save one of them. Wonder why Ann Lee didn’t make it - did they get it too late in the season, or were the musicians peeved at the idea of Blumberg winning twice in a row? Funniest entry has to be the Diane Warren documentary score/song

I'm fairly certain this was supposed to have a wide release this Friday, which has now been changed to a limited release with the wide release in mid-January. Speak of the devil (in the New York City Repertory Cinema thread), that's Jake Perlin's latest venture. I’be bought way too many used books from Film Desk. I can’t believe they sold a great paperback copy of Nestor Almendros’ autobiography for under $75

The Critics Choice Awards just casually handed Kleber Mendonça Filho the award for Best Foreign Language Film during his E! red carpet interview and then cut away to commercial. He had no previous idea he had won and didn't even get to say "thank you." Ridiculous.
