We can expect Carlotta to issue a second volume of Naruse, given past example of their multiple Ozu sets. The problem remains that most Naruse films are poorly restored even at the HD level. To think gorgeous 'Scope films like Yearning and When a Woman Ascends the Stairs were presented like that by Toho it is really insulting. Hope Carlotta could move mountains at their headquarters.

Kwaidan restored in 2025 in 4K, theatrical rerelease in France 2026:

Probably the restoration shown in Venice Classics 2025.
Might there be an upcoming UHD?

please let it be. I'm sure Criterion and Eureka would both be thrilled to upgrade their editions

A bunch of Carlotta releases are 50% off on Potemkine's site. That Truffaut 5 Heroines UHD set is awfully tempting at ~30 euros.

The Hitchcock set is only 40 Euros too, which may be very cost-effective for those who want to fill in gaps with the Imprint Hitchcock 9 and other releases. Imprint Hitchcock 9 + Carlotta Hitchcock give you everything released in HD up until 1932, then my existing Criterions, Network etc releases go from there.

Test of Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, Paradjanov, 4K restoration by Ritrovata of a 35mm print scanned by Fixafilm in Warsaw:

The B & W sequence is now pure b & w.
One extra is a 1960 documentary about Ukrainian folkloristic artisans; co-directed by Paradjanov, restored in Kiev in 4K from OCN.
