Fairly certain there is quite an overlap between VS fanbase and Troll 2 and GPK's non-ironic fanbases.

I cannot accept that these films have non-ironic fanbases. It’s impossible.

Troll 2 is enjoyable at home with a group or at a screening (I went to a sold-out screening nearly 20 years ago with the cast, filmmaker, and a preview of Best Worst Movie.

Is it something I want to spend $50 on and need in 4K? No.

I hope that Kuchar Bros. AGFA set materializes in December.

I think Stendhal Syndrome is the last essential Argento film, so I'll pick that up next year when it hits 50% off.

Wait, when did they announce this!? This would be the release of the year.

AGFA themselves announced it some time ago. It was actually announced about a year ago, I think it was mentioned on the AGFA thread here on the forum.

I had unfortunate word from someone previously involved with it whom I spoke to at a fest earlier this year that you probably shouldn’t hold your breath for the Kuchar box.

That’s what I mean. They’re midnight movies that would only be sad at home by yourself. I mean… I will absolutely go to a screening of The Room and partake in MST3K-ing it. I will never own a copy to watch at home. Same with Troll 2. GPK is just a miserable experience no matter what.

But I guess VS knows what will sell.

Also I might be a hypocrite because I’m a known Showgirls defender. So…

Showgirls is genuinely subversive and has a depth that Troll 2 doesn’t. It’s a great work of art we can laugh with, not at

Their post to Reddit stated a George Kuchar box in 2026.

Mike Kuchar was interviewed by Todd Rohal before a recent screening of Fuck My Son! @ The Alamo Drafthouse in SF recently. He was having a bit of difficulties with answers & mobility. They never opened it up to the audience for questions unfortunately (as I wanted to ask) and never broached the subject (of possible restorations/releases).

I struggled to get through this at home alone but I think I would need a participating audience to attempt it again through to the end.

It was a one-off as part of Alamo Drafthouse's Weird Wednesdays series. To be honest everything past the initial ending was such a whirlwind I forgot about that. The movie would be at home though on Vinegar Syndrome if it gets a disc release, so not entirely off topic.

The conversation I had was several months after that, and from what I understand, both the initiator of the project and the person who took it on after they left are both no longer with the company. I would absolutely love to be wrong, though!

jt938 wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 1:25 pm Just seems like the usual crybabys like Joel Goodsen and Driver 78 are the ones complaining. The slate was shit (aren't VinSyn's slates always?) but the entitlement on there is crazy. Thank god for Cinematographe though, I genuinely love most of the stuff they put out.
It's not just those two, people have been grumbling on other platforms as well and this slate has had probably the most toxic reception of any VS Black Friday slate ever. The main problem fans have had this year is that there are too many re-releases and UHD upgrades of previous Scream Factory titles and not enough Blu-ray debuts, and it's a valid complaint. VS used to do lots of Blu-ray debuts of obscure and forgotten films but they have now shifted their focus to doing expensive 4K UHD deluxe editions of familiar and famous movies. Subscribers feel that this is not what they signed up for. Especially the VS veterans who've been there since the early days haven't been too happy with the label largely moving away from 70s grindhouse and exploitation and going towards more modern and mainstream cinema.

Yeah, even though I was never a big fan of VS's output, it was at least interesting before. Revolver 1 feels like a return to form, whatever that form may be, and somewhat reasonably priced compared to the absurd asking prices for a lot of these other discs.

By the way, the films on Revolver 1 are confirmed to be:
Spoiler
Day of Stalking Horror (1980) 8 minutes

Friday 13 (1973) 11 minutes

Carolina (1972) 29 minutes

Boots and the Preacher (1972) 80 minutes

Just a heads up that New Rose Hotel is already below 300 (out of an initial 3000). Given how fast this is selling I persist in my hope that they'll release Ferrara's Mary next.

It’s ridiculous that neither Mary nor Go-Go Tales received commercial releases in North America

Yes, all of those need to get a good release (though I am particularly partial to Mary). As for New Rose Hotel, I'm kind of surprised to see that evidently they're not releasing a standard edition.

Yeah, but it seems like those are usually released at the same time, aren't they? Or has that changed?

Not with Cinématographe, I don’t think. For instance, I had to wait for the Little Darlings LE to go OOP before the standard 4K was issued
