Re: 1981’s Excalibur, now that it’s been promoted in the form of the teaser postcard, I’d love to know if Arrow/WB have managed to do anything to significantly improve the fidelity (especially music) of the audio as it’s always sounded like a temp track with poor fidelity of it’s music sources, rather than something representative of a polished early 80’s track.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conjecture
Update on this: Letterboxd have premiered a trailer for the Carpenter film, at least confirming they'e going to be releasing that one at the very least. But considering Arrow's recent Paramount deal and close relationship with Universal, I wonder if they might even attempt the complete franchise in one box set? I'd be very impressed if they did, but also quite happy if it was just the first 5 or 6. A shame they didn't announce it for release this October, but perhaps there was a reason to delay it and maybe they will announce it on actual Halloween?dwk wrote: Sun Sep 07, 2025 3:38 pm Word on the other forum is in the UK, on Apple TV, Halloween, Halloween 4 and Halloween 5 are available from Arrow.

Halloween 2 and 3 aren't Universal in the UK, they're part of a De Laurentis package that does the rounds between different labels over the years - Castle, Sanctuary etc.rapta wrote: Tue Oct 21, 2025 9:57 pmUpdate on this: Letterboxd have premiered a trailer for the Carpenter film, at least confirming they'e going to be releasing that one at the very least. High Fliers own the UK physical home video rights to 2 & 3 now, along with Dune, Blue Velvet, The Dead Zone, Firestarter, Conan the Destroyer, Ragtime, Year of the Dragon, Trick or Treat and a few other De Laurentiis Company productions from that period. The problem is however that they don’t have access to decent materials to any of them, so access to 4K masters needs to be agreed with other studios, which is often easier said than done.

This Serpent is looking kind of Rainbow-y to me.

Hopefully it's Serpent And The Rainbow, that movie is long overdue on 4k.

if Arrow releases Snakes on a Plane I will unironically buy a copy if they find a way to include this clip (as the tweet says, serious headphone warning required)

Excalibur and Peking Opera Blues (assuming they have to follow Shout's Golden Princess release patterns) for me, pretty please?

I’d laugh out loud if it was The Curse of Snake Valley, the much-loved 1988 Polish cult classic whose quality may be gauged by the fact that their equivalent of the Razzies are called the Snakes.
And then I’d pre-order it, of course.

The Serpent and the Rainbow seems most likely to me but maybe it's Serpent's Path. Janus has the '98 version in the U.S. but maybe not in the UK. I can't find anything about a U.S. or UK acquisition of last year's remake.

Lionsgate has Lair Of The White Worm, so it can't be that. Would Lizard In A Woman's Skin fit? The Snake Pit also seems to be OOP in both regions.

If by The Snake Pit you mean the 1948 Fox film…
…well, that’s why it’s OOP!

An Anaconda series boxset to tie in with the remake rumours?

It's too bad City Slickers is BD only, given the outdoor location shooting and how it tries to emulate the old Hollywood Westerns of the past, the pictorial quality is arguably the best among these three.

I appreciate that Arrow has a balance to strike, and can see the appeal in releases of stuff like The Mask and Spawn, but who in the world was/is looking for a Snakes on a Plane UHD?

Really great film to recall the uselessness of the internet as a metric to a film’s success. It was the first big meme movie with unfunny Redditors laughing about it, and then no one went to see it. Sony tried the same with Morbius and no one gave a shit then either. Under Siege at least has some camp value and is one of the few fun Seagal movies, though I would’ve preferred John Flynn’s Out for Justice where Seagal does the worst Italian-American accent documented in a movie.mfunk9786 wrote: Thu Oct 30, 2025 2:56 pm I appreciate that Arrow has a balance to strike, and can see the appeal in releases of stuff like The Mask and Spawn, but who in the world was/is looking for a Snakes on a Plane UHD?

Cliff mentioned in an interview that they had licensed three titles featuring a cancelled actor. Could have been Seagal, so I definitely think that Out for Justice and Marked for Death are likely Arrow titles.

That’s not a name I associate with being canceled. My guess would be Kevin Spacey

In a way, Snakes on a Plane laid the groundwork for bullshit like Zach Snyder’s cut of Justice League, as petitioners begged LionsGate to make it an R-rated film when it was shot with a PG-13 in mind

Could be, his career was pretty much dead by the time of the Me Too movement, but multiple women have accused Seagal of rape.domino harvey wrote: Thu Oct 30, 2025 5:40 pm That’s not a name I associate with being canceled. My guess would be Kevin Spacey

Hadn’t heard of this at all, but considering he got Emmy nominated after the firing for a different show (the White Lotus) and was just in the new Wes Anderson, I think he’s doing fine (and unless I’m missing something, it sounds like all he did was tell some dirty jokes on the set)
