Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics
Of the nine J.Lee Thompson/Charles Bronson-collaborations, this is very near the top of those I enjoy the most, beaten only by Kinjite. Happy with my blu-ray from 88 Films though, can’t imagine I’ll bother upgrading this. The male murder victim in the opening sequence is future director Deran Sarafian, also Robert Altman’s nephew. Makes me wonder if Altman ever saw this, and what he thought of the jacking off-scene!

Hard to see how it could top the Imprint release but that one is of course costing an arm and leg.

This will likely be followed by an Arrow release which, like the Imprint release, will probably be loaded with supplements.

Summary of Frank Tarzi's recent statement on Shelf Space #13: They may change up how they do the weekend announcements going forward. The studios sometimes aren't as fond of that, and the fans aren't happy with a lengthy wait after the announcement. You think a release will be nice and easy, but then roadblocks will appear.FrauBlucher wrote: Sat Aug 23, 2025 1:42 pm No announcements this weekend. This seems to be happening more often

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics
Mine too, most attractive announcement of the bunch. Picked up the dvd box on a whim/sale and enjoyed them much more than I expected. Glad to see them getting bunched together again & happy I never got around to pickin up individual UHDs and only upgraded one of the titles to blu. However I would have preferred they release the comparable Sellers box on UHD rather than The Pink Panther box. I did just upgrade many of those individually (to blu) but there's no question TPP is the better seller. On the other hand it is a bit surprising that Guinness gets the upgrade to UHD faster than Sellers when there's probably no contest (in the US) who has bigger name recognition.captveg wrote: Sun Sep 07, 2025 6:59 pm The Guinness/Ealing UHD set has got my attention. Yet another recent Imprint release (on blu) getting released on UHD (Abbott & Costello meet box).

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics Acquisitions
Four and a half years later… Found this to be De Broca’s return to the breathlessly manic pacing of his early features with Cassel, but I will give credit where it’s due: the film devours and discards its James Bond riffs with wild abandon and never lets up the energy. This is good. The film is, however, not all that funny amidst all the valiant mugging. This is bad. But I kinda was won over by it in the end because it was admittedly extremely entertaining, and it was fun to see Belmondo play something of a pathetic loser in between all the heroics. This is okay.Grand Wazoo wrote: Sun Jan 24, 2021 7:48 pmWhat is the forum's opinion on this one?
