The Alfred Hitchcock Hour

The Hitchcock 9 (Including the first release of The Pleasure Garden restoration)

Hitchcock: The Early Years (1931 to 1935)
Season 1 of the show on Blu-ray, there’s two more after this. Can’t believe KLSC hasn’t put these out already, but glad someone is dipping their toes in. Incredible looking slate of releases, my poor wallet

Is this the only chance the 9 are together in a box? If so I'm seriously considering giving Imprint another go.

Not too keen on getting A Canterbury Tale though, fearing it could be just an out-dated master. Plus US/UK companies would surely go for it should new restoration became available.

Imprint lists this as their own restoration - I think all of Kino’s TV releases have been off-the-shelf HD masters, they don’t do them themselves.

Has Imprint ever shared their own restorations? This is a huge announcement (never thought I'd see any of these in HD!), but don't want to go for these bulky (and expensive) sets if somebody in the UK is just going to turn around and release the whole thing in one set.

Excuse the quick aside, but what is the best option for ordering from Imprint in the States?

I’ve ordered mine to Europe via DeepDiscount or WOW HD. Once they have their monthly 15% off codes there’s no better alternative I know of and the lack of import fees should make it even more worth for you in the US.

If you place a large enough order direct (like $400 AUD) there's no international shipping charge and I actually don't think there are tariff fees if you're just an individual consumer

And now the first Early Years volume is also unavailable. Hopefully they’re working with the rights holders to renegotiate more copies pressed, selling out this far before release date is ridiculous (and not warning about low stock isn’t great either)

From their Twitter
AN UPDATE ON 'THE HITCHCOCK NINE' and 'HITCHCOCK: THE EARLY YEARS - VOLUME ONE'.

We have had many questions on the state of these upcoming sets, and after some unexpected production delays, we are thrilled to now move ahead with these releases, with some minor changes:

• Both releases will be strictly limited to 1000 copies only. Every copy will be individually numbered. There will be NO Standard Edition for these collections.

• The release date has been adjusted to 29 October to compensate for these delays. If you have already pre-ordered directly through our website, your copy is secure, and you have been contacted via email.

• The documentary 'Becoming Hitchcock: The Legacy of Blackmail' and an Audio Commentary have been removed from the release.

Thank you again for your patience, and for the passion of all Hitchcock fans out there that has brought these sets into reality.

Both sets are now available for pre-order at http://imprintfilms.com.au. We anticipate these highly limited final copies will sell out fast, so jump in quickly.

The Hitchcock Nine was the only thing I was interested in. It is still listed as being Out of Stock as it used to be since recently.

For those curious, the axed commentary was Tim Lucas on the talkie version of Blackmail

Thanks, I ordered both! You’d think spending $265 would at least give me free media shipping, but I’m just happy to get the order in.

Is there any indication Orbit has already placed a bulk preorder for these? Generally it seemed like they close preorders a week or two before release day and then place an order with a couple extra copies to sell in addition to the preorders

Obviously I can't guarantee anything but I have seen them sell out of preorders before, months in advance of a release

You have to order 3 items to unlock free shipping

which is still on the Kino, so no loss if anyone didn't ditch that yet

all the more confusing that Imprint wasn't able to use. very funky. Imprint have quite a few exclusive commentaries that actually get my interest on these, so if I'm miraculously able to buy before a sellout (doubtful), then I will, otherwise the Kinos it'll be, maybe a Studiocanal box instead

Christ, where can I see a list of what films and extras are available in these two sets in comparison to the Kino and Studio Canal sets? Does a post like that exist?

I believe the extras that don’t say NEW and aren’t Australia-specific on Imprint’s release are on Studio Canal’s UK set as well. Even with the recently axed extras, the Aussie releases still have the most extras of any of the titles

SC UK is missing the first film from the Hitchcock 9 box, but has the first two films of the Early Hitchcock box (10 films plus the docs). It’s also only $109 from Amazon right now
