Very good! Unless there are unexpected issues, you can buy with confidence. I have virtually all of their 4K releases and believe fus1on has a few of their titles listed in his list too.therewillbeblus wrote: Mon Apr 28, 2025 8:59 pm How are Mubi's 4Ks generally? Good to know! Too bad they usually skimp on extras..

Re: UHD New Releases, Reissues and Upgrades
This was also brought up on the other forum a few days ago. People chimed in that a few of their titles actually have more than their international counterparts, such as Aftersun, Drive My Car and Perfect Days but beyond that their editions are indeed rather slim extras-wise, a bit like the Janus Contemporaries line. Re. Queer 4K, so far nothing was officially announced beyond a packaging picture and the now-supposedly final release date.therewillbeblus wrote: Tue Apr 29, 2025 7:00 pm Good to know! Their Benedetta 4K was the only flop so far, is that right?

That’s right. Decision to Leave came afterwards and with that one they started doing great.

Oh you know what, I think its because I have my phone display in dark mode and the blue shows up as purple. (Oops)

Yeah, the color’s correct. I’m always quoting the color codes from my previous posts to save time.Finch wrote: Wed Apr 30, 2025 1:07 am Oh you know what, I think its because I have my phone display in dark mode and the blue shows up as purple. (Oops)
Are you using an iPhone? There’s a great dark mode app that’s much better than any other I tried and displayed every site I’ve visited correctly, even tricky ones like Shopify stores. It’s called Dark Reader: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/dark-read ... 1438243180

@fus1on:
Anora (Criterion) - comparison with the Australian release and the Criterion is inferior PQ-wise.
@FInch:
Drop Zone (VS) - caps
Gandhi (Sony DV reissue) - review
The Good German (Warner) - caps
The Informant (Warner) - review

I'm a bit late to this conversation, but yes, MUBI is great. I don't know if they've put out a bad encode yet, which is extremely impressive. Their 4K release of The Substance is better encoded than many Kino and Criterion discs despite it being a 2.5 hour long film placed on a BD-66.nicolas wrote: Mon Apr 28, 2025 9:24 pmVery good! Based on the new set of caps, I'd argue the opposite, actually.nicolas wrote: Wed Apr 30, 2025 11:10 am @fus1on:

You’re right. The poster who shared the first caps made it seem like the Australian release is superior across the board. Curious to see how the Capelight turns out.professorwho wrote: Thu May 01, 2025 11:02 pmBased on the new set of caps, I'd argue the opposite, actually.nicolas wrote: Wed Apr 30, 2025 11:10 am @fus1on:

Re: UHD New Releases, Reissues and Upgrades
Honestly, having just now seen Criterion's 4K of Anora, I'm genuinely considering moving it up to the Reference Tier. It looks incredible on its own, and now that we have caps showing it's the best looking version of the film available, I don't see why it shouldn't be up there.

That’s what the new screenshots (and my above post) also suggestFus1on wrote: Fri May 02, 2025 10:23 pm Honestly, having just now seen Criterion's 4K of Anora, I'm genuinely considering moving it up to the Reference Tier. Re: UHD New Releases, Reissues and Upgrades
The Fall (Umbrella AU) - very positive reactions from buyers. Great transfer, no digital tinkering and a VFX + grading error in the earlier master was fixed. FiM did the encoding.
Four Flies on Grey Velvet (Shameless) - tied with the Carlotta and Plaion. Same master, all three were encoded by LSP. Shameless is fully English friendly and has new extras with Argento and Michael Brandon.
Lilo & Stitch (Disney) - caps. Disney censored / altered a “pizza box” shot and some of the subtitles are out of sync and have errors in the Hawaiian lyrics. I haven’t seen the film. Is this grave enough to dismiss the 4K as disappointing?

Re: UHD New Releases, Reissues and Upgrades
The pizza box was inserted for the UK theatrical release and has been retained for home video since, I believe, except for an older US Blu ray release (I don't recall the year). Ideally they'd have included a remastered uncensored cut but the censoring isn't a mark against the 4K IMO. I don't have any of the Blu rays but I was also going to wait for the UHD to go down in price anyway.
PS.: reportedly the last uncensored Blu ray available is the 2013 double feature one. I'd like to see more reactions to the 4K but the subtitle issues is really careless on Disney's behalf.

Lilo & Stitch is solid. More people got their copies in, including David Mackenzie (Fidelity in Motion), who shared his thoughts here.

Was puzzled by the bitrate here, but I'm glad to hear that reactions are positive and FiM was involved.nicolas wrote: Sun May 04, 2025 8:46 pm The Fall (Umbrella AU) - very positive reactions from buyers.
