There's a category for individual short films and then one for releases that have a number of them (where nominating individual films would be unlikely to find a consensus). Vitagraph Comedies is a great example of something that fits best under "collection of short films." The Peter Strickland set, previously mentioned, would also fit well here even though that set also includes feature-length films

First, I don't believe anyone else has nominated this. Second, I think the Criterion and BFI should be treated as separate releases

Agreed, Swo! I can't believe I am the first to nominate it! I'll edit my original post. Also, does the word "second" in your reply qualify as seconding? :)

The idea is to keep the old Criterion BD for the (lavish) extras, and get the BFI UHD for the upgrade + yet another full-length commentary (Adrian Martin), right?

I'll second The Walking Dead (WAC) for upgrade, btw.

always speaking my language.

I do think some of these "release" and "upgrade" should be the other way around. like I see both Seven Samurai as "upgrades" as they were already on BD and are mostly a format upgrade (BFI adding a new commentary + booklet, though). I personally see Arrow's Silence of the Lambs as a whole new release as they did tons from the ground up. so I'll vote accordingly

NOMINATING:
best release:
The Shape of Night (Radiance) [if we're doing "best rescue/discovery" I'm voting for this]
Suzhou River (Radiance)
Tattooed Life (Radiance)
World Noir Vol. 2 (Radiance)
Michael Powell: The Early Works (BFI)
Ikiru (BFI)
You & Me (Indicator)
Silence of the Lambs (Arrow)
Trainspotting (Criterion)

best upgrade:
The Long Good Friday (Arrow)
Withnail and I (Arrow)

best cover:
The Landlord (Radiance)
Slap the Monster on Page One (Radiance)
Michael Powell: The Early Works (BFI)
The Escapees (Indicator)
Demon Pond (Criterion)

SECONDING:
best release:
Nostalghia (Kino)
Paper Moon (Criterion)
Werckmeister Harmonies (Criterion)

best upgrade:
none for now but I want this post format so I'm leaving this here

best cover:
Haxan (Radiance)

biggest disappointment:
Once Upon a Time in the West (Paramount)
Chantal Akerman (Criterion)

still working through plenty - Indicator has a little less love here but I bought like 18 of their releases from this year and haven't gotten to go through them yet

I'll second it for both. Would this count as a collection of shorts too, or are portmanteau films ineligible?

I think the spirit of the "shorts collection" category is to recognize labels for putting multiple shorts together on a release, as opposed to whoever commissioned the portmanteau film in the first place

Supposedly the Potemkine Sweet East has over half an hour of deleted scenes as an extra. Has anyone seen it?
