Adam X wrote: Fri May 03, 2024 3:59 am Having listened to a recent David Gregory interview, it sounds like the old Mondo set was down to him; with the doco and Goodbye Uncle Tom being what interested Lustig most.
That was pretty much why Lustig said he doesn't plan on upgrading any of the other titles from the Mondo box. He just doesn't find the other titles that interesting.

Lustig was on Kino's Youtube show and said they still have the rights to Argento's Inferno and Soavi's Stagefright and want to do 4Ks but they've had trouble accessing the negatives to do 4K scans.

He also said they are working on :
Antonio Margheriti's The Stranger and the Gunfigher (1974)
Piers Haggard's Venom(1981) on UHD (As I mentioned in the post above)
Jess Fanco's The Blood of Fu Manchu and The Castle of Fu Manchu on UHD

Did he by any chance mention his films Hit List and Relentless? I'm curious about both of these, and have been wondering why we haven't seen these on blu-ray. I guess he would have released them through Blue Underground if he'd had the rights.

INFERNO is owned by Disney now internationally I believe....

Ooh, Stranger and the Gunfighter has been on my wish-list for years. A Shaw Brothers co-production too.

Nope. They didn't really talk about his films.

Yes. Fox completely owns it internationally, but, while they have the theatrical rights in the US, they sold off the video rights back in the day. And that is where the issue arises, they will not let BU have access to the negative.

"Mind the gap!"

Great news, especially because almost the entire second half of the film takes place in complete darkness, so any increase in resolution can only help!

Fire and Ice UHD annpuncement
On June 30, 2026, Blue Underground proudly presents the WORLD PREMIERE 4K restoration of FIRE AND ICE in an EXCLUSIVE 3-DISC LIMITED EDITION STEELBOOK®!

From The Director Of The Original Animated THE LORD OF THE RINGS And The Illustrator Of CONAN THE BARBARIAN

It began as a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration between two of the greatest icons of the fantasy genre: Controversial animator Ralph Bakshi (director of FRITZ THE CAT, WIZARDS and the original THE LORD OF THE RINGS) and legendary illustrator Frank Frazetta (creator of the iconic CONAN THE BARBARIAN, VAMPIRELLA and Edgar Rice Burroughs book covers). It became – and remains – one of the most startling animation epics of all time. Now experience a world unlike any ever seen, where savage warriors, horrific monsters and luscious maidens battle for the soul of a civilization in a time of good and evil, pleasure and pain, and FIRE AND ICE.
Featuring the voice talents of William Ostrander (CHRISTINE), Maggie Roswell (THE SIMPSONS), Steve Sandor (STRYKER), Stephen Mendel (JACK FROST), and the incomparable Susan Tyrrell (CRY-BABY),

Blue Underground is proud to present FIRE AND ICE in a brand-new restoration, scanned in 4K 16-bit from the original negative, with Dolby Vision HDR and a new Dolby Atmos audio mix!
