Glad I have the OOP Labyrinth that was perfectly fine for ten bucks. This is nuts.

yes, those were more allowable when you factor in how much a book might be. not to mention they did have standard editions of both, something it's unclear if Shout would do

That forum doesn't really love Shout/Scream in the way that they love Arrow or Vinegar Syndrome. So I image the reaction would be much more positive if something was getting similar treatment from either of those two companies.
Vinegar Syndrome is very close to trying something like this, I feel. they know they could get away with it too. luckily the BR forum and Reddit both seem to dislike Shout and their practices pretty heavily, so hopefully it'll discourage other labels from trying...

There are regular priced steelbooks of both Labyrinth and Dark Crystal but they are Walmart exclusives. Which is also annoying.

The Walmart edition of Labyrinth UHD/Blu-ray combo pack is $29… what could possibly be worth $61-233 more with zero additional on-disc content

Same, but also a little astounding that I've waited so long since the other region B label's releases of these pictures to find out that all five titles would be in a single box, let alone at all, by Scream Factory?!?

I just hope it sells well so it'll urge less prominent CAT III titles to emerge over time (probably the only genre where coloring books, barf bags, new eyes & assorted tie-in ephemera would be a welcome buying incentive, at least to me).

That's the title? The biggest shock in the set will be when the first-time buyer discovers there isn't a single horror film in it.

I don't think so, and in any case, both have done very tat'ful releases that weren't priced this way, and even so, I'm not sure, say, the Arrow boxset of Phantasm with its cheap plastic sphere gathered many applauses.
Vinegar Syndrome's tendencies to dip a lot in other-stuff-than-discs with their releases, such as their slipcovers re-releases, have also gathered some rolling eyes in the past.

But if Arrow was to ever release a single title with a $120 because they added a plush, a card game, a coloring book and 5 pin's, I'm quite certain the reactions would be similar, which would be that the requested price doesn't seem correlated to the actual content.

It'd be really funny if they had to offer a 50% or higher discount next year to shift any copies at all.

I know it isn't the same thing, but the amount of people that whine over there when Arrow does a standard slipcover instead of a chipboard for a release is sizable. I think the nadir of cardboard fetishism was after Synapse and Arrow collaborated on the Phenomena and Tenebrae UHD the number of poster who were clamoring for them to collaborate and re-release the Suspira UHD in similar packaging without even considering why Synapse collaborated with Arrow on the two Argento UHDs or why Synapse would even need to collaborate with Arrow on a title that Arrow would have nothing to add to.

Using the cart trick, the Stephen Chow set is down to 565 copies.

There's no way it's already sold almost 2k copies in a day. Maybe that's how many copies of the Collection + Poster exclusive that is remaining

You are likely right, but it doesn't say how many posters they are including, so that is the only number available right now.

I would indeed categorise that differently, but true enough, this kind of whining and its amount is absurd and unfathomable.

MifuneFan over at Blu-ray.com found a listing for Aguirre, The Wrath of God UHD. Original date was November 5th, but it seems to have been delayed.

Shout made a statement very quickly after this news broke saying the guy was not hired on his AI credentials and that they have no interest in using AI.

Their statement specifically says they have no interest in ai generated “key art and restorations” - but they also put this guy in charge if unscripted co-productions. Which sounds like they want to use AI to *make* films/shows. He also specifically says he’ll use AI in the press release

How do we know AI didn't write and release that statement?

Has anyone had a chance to watch this disc? I can't find any reviews online. This is easily one of my most anticipated releases of the year. I hope Shout! Factory treated the film well.

Such a gem of a movie. Pairs nicely with the much darker Office Killer from Cindy Sherman

Also pairs well with the brilliant Office Space that came out two years later and seems to have borrowed a thing or two from Clockwatchers...
