I thought that but it has an in-print UK Blu-ray.

Could JCB be for Jean-Claude Biette or, given Radiance's tastes, for Jean-Christophe Bouvet, star of Vecchiali's (recently restored, I think) La machine?

Biette and/or Vecchiali would be a dream come true. Imagining an English friendly version of the new French PV set. Maybe too much to hope for.
Can't see Puzzle of a Downfall Child as the French blu is great and very affordable, though who knows. Terrific film though.

Jean Claude Brialy also directed a few titles, but I don't know if they'd abbreviate a single film title for the directorRed Screamer wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 1:03 pm Could JCB be for Jean-Claude Biette or, given Radiance's tastes, for Jean-Christophe Bouvet, star of Vecchiali's (recently restored, I think) La machine?

Someone mentioned Susana on the other forum so that could be it.TMDaines wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 11:50 am If anyone can work out the possible Bunuel, please share. I couldn't find an obvious acronym in any language, but might have missed the wood for the trees.

MM - Mario Monicelli. Would fit in with Radiance's plans for more commedia all'italiana?

I believe those are supposed to be boxed sets, and MM is not bolded. I could be wrong about these releases being boxed sets, though?alacal2 wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 4:15 pm MM - Mario Monicelli. Would fit in with Radiance's plans for more commedia all'italiana?
POV is probably Planet of the Vampires, their Bava title.

I thought about that and chose to ignore it.TMDaines wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 11:29 amI hoped so, but given they are doing TK3 and TK4, and Petri already has one release, it would be inconsistent.

I think it’s strictly referring to the 2024 lineup since that’s when the first 2 TKs will be released.TMDaines wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 11:29 amI hoped so, but given they are doing TK3 and TK4, and Petri already has one release, it would be inconsistent. That said, maybe they are only referring to 2023 releases. If Petri, I would guess two of Il maestro di Vigevano (1963), and A ciascuno il suo (1967), which both already have Blu-ray releases on the continent, or Todo modo (1976), which is probably the biggest title unreleased on Blu-ray.Adam X wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 11:23 am Well TK3 & 4 are presumably two more films from Tai Kato, but what I’m truly hoping is that EP1 & 2 are two more films from Elio Petri. We Still Kill the Old Way would be especially wonderful.

MM could be a UK release of Millennium Mambo or Bo Widerberg's Man from Majorca.

A Blu-ray.com member suggested MM for Mississippi Mermaid and SOA for The Story of Adele H. and it would be lackluster compared to other more exciting guesses, of course, but the more I think about it the more it feels right.

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
MIS was on last year’s tease list (guessing it was delayed) and I suggested Mississippi Mermaid then as well. But Calvin’s guess of Millennium Mambo or The Man from Majorca could be right for MM as well. I’d be happy with any of those three!

I don't think Mekong Hotel is with anyone in the UK, but it's really hard to imagine it being the centerpiece of a release rather than a supplement (as it appeared on Strand's Cemetery of Splendour).dadaistnun wrote: Thu Dec 21, 2023 1:35 am Mekong Hotel

worst kept secret of this label is that L'Amour Fou is being released, but the surprise is they're doing a theatrical release too

Probably hoping against reason that MIS is a teaser for some Kinji Misumi films, given that the French are getting new releases.

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
I see no issue with Radiance doing more Truffaut, considering how good that edition of The Bride Wore Black was. I do think MIS is the one though, cause I'm hoping Millennium Mambo is MM, especially since he's putting out Suzhou River, but could also see that be a Eureka title. I really do think we'll see some more of the popular 90s/00s Asian titles being restored come out in the UK next year...sabbath wrote: Thu Dec 21, 2023 2:19 am A Blu-ray.com member suggested MM for Mississippi Mermaid and SOA for The Story of Adele H. and it would be lackluster compared to other more exciting guesses, of course, but the more I think about it the more it feels right.
anyway I'm glad the MGM relationship is being put to good use, I don't see any of the other UK labels touching the Truffauts (or Altmans) that we've gotten so far. Planet of Vampires seems pretty dead on for the Bava title, considering it got a German 4K release and seems to have a few angles that fit in with the Radiance catalog more than say, Arrow. now whether it'll be the first Radiance UHD or not remains to be seen...

But if the “bold means boxsets” in the quoted list stands true, why would Planet of the Vampires be a boxset?

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
Apologies if this has already been posted but Radiance posted a list on Letterboxd of titles they tried - and failed - to license in 2023. Incredibly they explain what went wrong in each case (if you view the list in list view mode), which is something most labels won’t share with the public. It explains why we never got an Estonian release or why we are still waiting on ICH/Ichikawa, why no one is releasing Naruse etc. They said that they will still try again with several of these titles in the future. Definitely worth a read.
The ten titles are:
VISITOR Q (Miike)
DEMONS (Matusumoto)
TEN DARK WOMEN (Ichikawa)
CITY OF PIRATES (Ruiz)
THE MATTEI AFFAIR (Rosi)
LIGHTNING (Naruse)
CHOOSE ME (Rudolph)
THE TEMPTATION OF ST TONY (Õunpuu)
BROKEN HIGHWAY (McInnes)
GHOSTS… OF THE CIVIL DEAD (Hillcoat)
List with detailed info on attempts to license each film can be found here

It could be just a single film from a boxed set.Peacock wrote: Sat Dec 23, 2023 12:39 pm But if the “bold means boxsets” in the quoted list stands true, why would Planet of the Vampires be a boxset?
