Anyone here vouch for the quality of Larry Clark’s
Marfa Girl films? I guess I’m a masochist, but I keep going back to his films
Surprised no one else has mentioned
::sotto voce Baba O' Riley:: Teenage Caveman, a movie I only remember as high-caliber gore crossed with some of the most undercooked waifish actors of any generation, which is kind of incredible. While
Bully is the formal winner for Clark in my book, there are always moments of sweet sublimity that exist in his films that only he can conjure (the high & the low, I suppose), like the end credits of
Another Day In Paradise, which use born-again era Dylan to magnificent effect, especially after all that occurs in the rest of that film.
As for the
Marfa Girl films, I never took the bait to stream it back in the day for $6, but that commentary track should be....interesting.
Ken Park includes lots of source music that seem like a labyrinthine amount of heavy lifting for anyone at that end of the supply chain (filmed transgressions notwithstanding), but at the rate that VS keep teasing
Looking For Mr. Goodbar, maybe they can one day find a way? I would also accept a total disregard on their part & asking for forgiveness later physical edition, as releasing
Ken Park would probably not stoke the ire of anyone who really cares. That is, unless Kees Kasander still owns it outright.
