The only reason I have a shred of belief that isn’t a mistake is that the Insider posted on the other forum after someone mentioned it and didn’t kibosh it. Otherwise, how the hell The Long Goodbye (with 2x the IMDb ratings and 4x the LB views) is a preposterous suggestion for 4k yet Scarlet Street isn’t I’ll never understand.

The Long Goodbye, ditto McCabe and Mrs. Miller I think would be a disaster for UHD based on their very unusual visual technique. if Vilmos Zsigmond was still with us, then absolutely I think it could be done with his approval. but I don't see The Long Goodbye being a success, given how the more recent KLSC completely slaughtered the intended look of the film. but someone who is a little more tech savvy may have a better answer

I say all of this as a massive, massive fan of The Long Goodbye who would buy any edition of it loaded to the gills. the "flashing'" technique was totally nailed by Criterion with their McCabe disc, honestly one of their best achievements. I don't think we can trust Kino to pull that off unfortunately

I stand extremely corrected on these movies coming to UHD. really intrigued to see how much of an upgrade McCabe is going to present

It’s not this Friday I can assure you, if it was a secret title it would have had a very vague clue at least partially related to it though I do think it is coming from Vinegar Syndrome for a couple of reasons.

It's the kind of title Fun City would give their firstborn to release... but that may not be a high enough price if the reported music rights issues were indeed the issue. In which case, CC or Arrow may be right.

Shane was another one I was hoping Criterion would acquire, along with Hud. Disappointed. Once again. Which, leaves Sunset Boulevard (I think) as the only top shelf ‘50s title missing a UHD release. A 4K could come now from either Paramount, Kino or Criterion. Probably Paramount.

It looks like the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Don Siegel, 1956) will be released on UHD per a header photo update on Facebook. Intriguing because the film doesn't look too good on Blu-ray - it had a very soft-looking transfer because Olive used what was essentially a dupe. Maybe the OCN was long-gone, but IIRC when the film was first distributed and exhibited, they cropped and blew up the original image capture in order to produce 2.00:1 Superscope prints, and that's what you get on Olive's Blu-ray. So my hope is, the OCN was located and a new 4K transfer was done from that, and at minimum they re-created the 2.00:1 crop digitally from the new transfer in order to avoid generational loss, and hopefully they also include the full-frame transfer just in case people want that.

I saw this HD master through the just-released French BD, and not only the elements most likely are what they are (and I'm not sure that making a UHD from it is technically sound, so maybe something better has since been located), but it also seemed to me like it was digitally tinkered with. Grain in particular looked like always having the same size and sharpness despite going through what seemed like elements from different generations, which make 0 technical sense and would suggest the grain has been manipated, and some shots also looked sharpened to me.
