Same. I actually forgot about this so I'll need to contact them as well.

I just got mine yesterday - sent an email a week ago since I'm moving in a few weeks, and they said they're running behind schedule working through orders and asking people to be patient. If you ordered anything from recent sales post-Halfway-to-Black-Friday it'll just be included in that package. Doesn't hurt to reach out though

I can't say for sure, but I recall Vengeance Is Mine having fewer special features than this listed at the initial announcement:

• Region A Blu-ray
• Q&A with Michael Roemer and Brooke Adams, moderated by Bilge Ebiri
• Interview with Michael Roemer by A.S. Hamrah
• Essay on Brooke Adams by Madelyn Sutton
• New trailer by Zach Clark
• English SDH subtitles

I think they are starting to send replacements out to everyone, as I just received an email from VinSyn saying that the replacement copy for the disc and booklet have been shipped out.

I got an email, as well, although I don't think the tracking number they gave me is accurate!

That makes sense. They must have been prioritizing sending them out with other items people ordered recently to fulfill the backlog, and are only now getting to folks who had no outstanding orders to kill two birds with one shipping box

There’s a new restoration of Michel Brault’s brilliant 1974 docudrama, Les Ordres, premiering on Hollywood Suite here in Canada. Fingers crossed, this is the next announcement from Canadian International Pictures.

That’s wonderful. I’d love to finally get a legitimate home video release of that

I would think Brault's Between Sweet and Salt Water is a shoe-in for an Other French New Wave volume, I could easily see Les Ordres following or preceding it. Although they could do a big boxed set to match and upgrade the Canadian DVD set from years back.

We were shown both of those in film school in the early, early 90s, and I remember being astonished that films from my own country could be that good.

Another feature that I hope Canadian International can release is Dany Laferrière’s How to Make Love to A Negro, which is maybe the first Quebec narrative feature from a Black filmmaker. I must confess that I’ve never seen it, but I love Laferrière’s novel

Yes, they had credited the first essay to the second essay's author and vice versa

Could you also check something else for me? There may be a major quality control problem in the film itself. The entire scene between Pernath and Miriam in the empty room that begins at 1:08:00 (right after Pernath’s encounter at the escalator after visiting the empty TV studio where the musician is playing) is low-res and has a very stutter-y frame rate. While it is possible that is what Szulkin intended and what appears on the original prints, I really couldn’t discern any aesthetic reason he would do that. This is my first Szulkin film, and I have never seen it screened from a print. Please verify against an actual print to see whether perhaps an incorrect insertion occurred in production of the disc. Thank you!
While I've not seen Golem from a print, I can confirm that the frame rate effect is present on other digital formats like the one streaming on 35mm.online. I assumed while watching it off the VS disc that it was an intentional effect but I'm happy to hear if anyone has more information.
I can also confirm that it's present in the old Telewizja Kinopolska DVD, complete with print damage. So either it was an intentional effect from the outset or a postproduction solution to a technical problem that arose during shooting, but it definitely isn't a Blu-ray QC issue.

The Labor Day weekend sale is now live and a whole new batch of VS and partner label releases have been announced. The highlight for me would be Mike de Leon's Will Your Heart Beat Faster? (Kakabakaba Ka Ba?), which I almost didn't recognise under its translated title. It will include a whole bonus feature, Gregorio Fernandez's Miss Philippines (1947), as well as Mike de Leon's short film Aliwan Paradise.

It's great to see Kani releasing more Filipino cinema; their earlier release of Lino Brocka's Cain and Abel is included in the sale at 60% off. I think that pretty much the entirety of Mike de Leon's oeuvre was restored a few years ago and put out on Blu-Ray in France by Carlotta, so hopefully we see the rest of those as well as Ishmael Bernal's Himala and Manila By Night.

Sounds like another Kani banger. I also got the CIP film, which they pitched quite well, The Hard Part Begins, Yellow Veil's Midnight Swim (the only item on sale I am interested in), and the three items from last month's slate that I did not buy (Heroic Times, Dream of Life, Vengeance Is Mine).

This may be old news, but I was scrolling through Kani's Facebook page which confirms that there are more "[Lino] Brockas to come".

More Filipino cinema in general would be wonderful, Once A Moth and Cain and Abel are two of the best movies they've released, and I expect Will Your Heart Beast Faster? to live up to Mike de Leon's reputation.

To break Kani releases down by nationality...

Japan - 5 releases
Hong Kong - 3 releases
China - 1 release
Malaysia - 1 release
Philippines - 4 releases (one of which contains two feature length films)

THE PROPHECY 1-3 - 4 UHD/BD BOX SET
D.A.R.Y.L. (VSU) - UHD
FATAL GAMES - BD
VINEGAR SYNDROME'S LOST PICTURE SHOW - 10-FILM BD BOX SET
Included are: Oliver Drake’s forgotten proto-slasher, THE LAS VEGAS STRANGLER (aka No Tears For the Damned), Larry Crane's murder mystery/nudie, BEWARE THE BLACK WIDOW, Joe Sarno’s stirring seaside drama, DEEP INSIDE, Albert Zugsmith’s notorious bad-taste thriller, VIOLATED!, Walter Burn’s underground sexual freakout, BARBARA, James Newslow’s nuclear holocaust scare film, RED MIDNIGHT, Titus Moede’s ode to forgotten Americana, THE LAST OF THE AMERICAN HOBOES, Carlos Tobalina’s “erotic” morality tale, WHAT’S LOVE?, Charles Nizet’s sex and gore frenzy, THE SEX SERUM OF DR BLAKE (the original cut of Voodoo Heartbeat), and finally Donn Greer’s jaw dropping and unnerving, “kiddie film” and musical, THE RARE BLUE APES OF CANNIBAL ISLE (aka The Pirates of Cannibal Isle).

What’s more is that this release also includes Elijah Drenner’s brand new, feature-length documentary AGAINST THE GRAIN, which examines how genre film focused home video companies have taken the charge in preserving, restoring, and releasing so many works which otherwise might have been lost to time.

This massive collection also comes complete with two thick, fully illustrated perfect bound books of newly written essays and historical analysis covering each of the included films.
SECRET RELEASE #1 - 4K UHD/BD
SECRET RELEASE #2 - BD
But that’s not even close to being all as there’s two more titles which we’re not gonna tell you about...perhaps the craziest of the bunch...the Surprise Titles, one of which is will mark the UHD debut of a major work by one of genre cinema’s greatest auteurs and the other is a criminally under-seen gem of early 80s horror. We can basically guarantee that you're not gonna be disappointed...
As we’ve hopefully demonstrated in the past, we often save the weirdest and wildest, and most unexpected films as surprises, and this upcoming duo will be no different, including the world 4K UHD debut of a slimy epic from from one of the greatest genre filmmakers to ever live along with another never-on-disc treasure that will surely satiate those craving squirm inducing carnage.

Wonder how much I'll regret buying that big box. Because I did. I wish Arrow's American Horror Project had been this massive.

Can anyone vouch for the titles in the box set? The Rare Blue Apes of Cannibal Isle sounds promising; the rest look like a grab bag of run-of-the-mill trash schlock. I'd love to be able to justify splurging on this though.
