Looking at that comparison in more detail, it's clear that Criterion does what I also do for Indicator releases - taking a broadly solid but possibly overly literal translation and slightly tweaking it line by line to make it read better.

This is pretty much what Rialto does per their demonstration last week, though they're more thorough with the tweaking - I think they actually cut down a lot of stuff just to make it reasonable. (They gave a demonstration with Panique to show why they don't subtitle everything, and there were moments where the screen was overwhelmed with subtitles due to the amount of dialogue between characters.) I didn't think to ask if they usually turn over their subtitles to Criterion, but Lenny Borger is often Rialto's subtitler.

Probably old news, but Touchez Pas Au Grisbi on Blu-ray looks surprisingly bad (same master on Kino and SC releases) - surprising because it's de-grained in a way that isn't seen on the old French Blu-ray for Casque d'Or that pre-dates it, and I was hoping for something along the same lines. FWIW, there is a new UHD of Casque d'Or I haven't seen yet, but it could be even better.

Per the BFI description:

Presented in a new 2K restoration from the original 16mm A/B camera negatives, Kamikaze Hearts has been restored by Kino Lorber in collaboration with the Outfest UCLA Legacy Project at the UCLA Film & Television Archive.

Looks like their using the same transfer so the BFI release is the best for their extra booklet. Thank you for reading.

Would definitely love an upgrade of that whole DVD package.

High Noon is going to be released on 4K UHD. This is the second Paramount title that Kino has released on 4K that was previously released by Olive Films. Maybe we will see other Olive titles like Johnny Guitar, The Quiet Man, and Rio Grande receive 4K releases from Kino.
