Elf is good but the ending is awful. Santa & Cie is cute. Will Ferrell's PDL is Stranger Than Fiction

No "almost certainly" about it - how that one ever got within sniffing distance of being a classic is beyond me.

I was going through the thread that this should be happening in yesterday, and read her Chris' hilarious impression, and I think I struck a nerve. Don't think I'll be able to publicly vocalize my true thoughts and feelings about any of these come Christmas week, but those that follow me on LB can vicariously track my trauma there

Wow, I completely forgot that I had seen it. I can't even recall a single moment of it yet I recall that visit to my parents because that was literally days before I moved to Washington.

Film sounds terrible, though.

therewillbeblus wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 7:35 pm So I imagine that those of us who pre-ordered The Big Gundown as part of the last sale will have a two month delay on the whole order. How am I gonna celebrate Christmas without a viewing of Remember the Night?
Apologies for getting back on topic, but Powerhouse have confirmed that Remember the Night will be dispatched separately, even if it was part of a bundled order.

That's really generous of them, especially with all the manpower shortages etc. from the notification. Christmas is saved!

I placed a large order with the Bundle (including Remember the Night), the Murphy box and several other older titles, when the Bundle was announced. I wonder how this will all be shipped.

Yeah mine was pretty eclectic as well. Since they usually seem to have another sale in the Spring, it'll be strange if we get most of our orders right before the next one

For the record, one of the manpower shortages being referred to was me having to take a two-week break in October to plan and record the commentaries for Second Run’s Andrzej Wajda box!

And I wasn’t the only one with a prior commitment like that, whose timing was originally predicated on what now seems like the utterly fanciful notion that Michael J Murphy would be done and dusted by mid-September.

For those that joined the group buy in August, I've confirmed that everything except the delayed titles will ship in December as originally scheduled. If any of you that have one of these titles in your order can't wait until late January/early February for everything to ship together, please PM me and we can work something out

I also heard back that they’re going to ship my entire order minus the delayed title with Remember the Night, so I expect this will apply to at least U.S. residents

The Michael J Murphy box set now has a new release date of 30 January (2023). After holding out for several months, I ordered one yesterday.

That release date was confirmed last month, and unless something untoward happens at the manufacturing stage it'll be the final one.

Review copies started arriving a few days ago, so there should be some independent feedback before too long - but thank you for your faith in it!

I ordered mine about an hour before the January delay was announced but I can't say I'm too upset about Indicator taking the time they need for it. Though I certainly pity any reviewer trying to work their way through all those films on a deadline!

Being in France, discs from the UK are currently taking about 2 weeks to reach me. Needless to say I hope Indicator's team will understand why I'm very likely to publish my review past the release date !

Please don't apologise! The Indicator team couldn't be more aware of current international posting challenges (caused by a ransomware attack on Royal Mail computers), and have even flagged this up at the top of their homepage.

I gather this only affects packages leaving the UK - or at least I hope this is the case, because I have stuff coming in from France this week (allegedly...) that I need for a piece with a fairly tight deadline. I have all the video I need for The Men I Killed (the Broken Lullaby/Frantz comparison going on the former disc), but I'd like to have the chance to read the original Maurice Rostand sources - novel and play - before signing off on it, and they've been out of print for decades so I had to fall back on French antiquarian bookshops. (Abebooks is one of the absolute wonders of the modern world in this respect!)

It could be indeed more concerning for the UK-to-France packages than the other way around, as I already saw a deterioration of the delivery times all along December, most likely due to the strikes in the UK (I was receiving mid-December stuff sent end of November), but haven't seen UK-residents having issues with what they were importing.

Santo and The Big Gundown have both been delayed a further two weeks, to mid February.

Group buyers: The last of the delayed items are finally on their way to me. Hopefully they don't get delayed too long by Royal Mail

Well I'll PM each member for their address before shipment. If you're still uncertain at that time, I guess I can hold it until you know where you want it sent

Interesting, I feel mostly caught up after the last one. If anyone’s trying to do a group buy, I’d probably join just to get the Murphy/Mexican sets before they sell out
