I contacted Versátil again - they told me that foreigners who are interested in obtaining any of their products should e-mail the managing partner, André Mello ([email protected]), naming the desired product(s) and providing the address. He'll take it from there.

Speaking of Babenco on physical media, Versátil has just announced a limited DVD set containing 8 of his films, including Lucio Flavio, Foolish Heart and At Play in the Fields of the Lord. Those are probably not remastered, though, as ATitFotL is 4x3 just like the old DVD.

Kino Lorber Insider has revealed that they have the rights to at least four Glauber Rocha movies, which they'll first screen theatrically then release on home video.

Oh yeah they followed me on Twitter awhile ago and I remember looking into them. Glad they are finally getting their first release off. Definitely something I'd like to support.

Exciting development. I wonder if they will only release arthouse titles or include genre films as well. Either way, I wish them every success and hope they are hiring Fidelity In Motion or someone as competent for the encoding. South American cinema is under represented on home video despite some efforts from Criterion and Film Movement and Milestone.
