Cherry 2000 is De Jarnatt's first feature, though, isn't it?

Am I the only one to vote for any silents?

I have Strike, which (FWIW) I find to be as interesting as any of Eisenstein's other films.

Three Ages is minor Keaton, but I put it somewhere in the bottom of my list anyway.

Zorns Lemma too

I didn't have the problem you had narrowing down.. I guess I don't feel very attatched to many of the films outside of my Top 10

Shit, I need reading glasses. I thought Miracle Mile was '86 not '88.

I also voted for Strike which is actually my favorite Eisenstein film. And it isn’t the only silent film on my list, the other being Walsh’s Regeneration.

Yeah that one occured to me, though forgot to check if iy would be eligible (and available, since I haven't seen it).

They Live by Night
ended up being the only film by a golden age Hollywood auteur on my list, though come to think of it, Cabin in the Sky should've been there.

Juice was probably a bit too loose for its own good, but the central four along with most of the support makes it really well lived in and very touching in its own way. I’m also glad that it’s not a Spike Lee clone, as much as I love Lee, and instead aims for its own unique stylistic and thematic voice.

I should have been more charitable to it like I was with Breathless based on its historical significance alone, but there were too many movies I took great pains cutting, and that was not one of them

Interesting, thanks! I ruled Hiroshima mon amour out when I was putting my list together, but I see now that the full-length feature that preceded it is supposedly lost and has no votes on IMDb. If I did a list again today I would have rated it rather highly. Amazing that Zorns Lemma charted as high as it did.

My top 10:

01 Pee-wee's Big Adventure (Tim Burton, 1985) ALSO-RAN
02 Zorns Lemma (Hollis Frampton, 1970)
03 Happiness (Aleksandr Medvedkin, 1935) ORPHAN
04 Szindbád (Zoltán Huszárik, 1971)
05 George Washington (David Gordon Green, 2000) ORPHAN
06 My Grandmother (Kote Miqaberidze, 1929) ORPHAN
07 The Wicker Man (Robin Hardy, 1973)
08 Katalin Varga (Peter Strickland, 2009)
09 Badlands (Terrence Malick, 1973)
10 Cabiria (Giovanni Pastrone, 1914) ORPHAN
