KL Insider admits that they don't really know if Criterion got back 'Ran' and then says this:

The two films are in different leagues sales wise, LG may let go of RAN and could care less, but I would be surprised if they let go of THE THIRD MAN.

Three cheers for Diary of a Country Priest, though I've been waiting for a decent restoration of The Trial on a shortlist of dream releases since I started collecting physical media, so that's the gold for me.

So are all the Antoine Doinel films. Are we assuming someone else has the rights to them?

All four of Criterion's Pabst films are being offered theatrically by Kino, three of which Janus is still offering theatrically on it's website (Pandora's Box has never been on the Janus site). Until we hear something different, I would take the Kino theatrical listing and the oop status of Pandora's Box as mere coincidences.

The Crime of Monsieur Lange - This never got a good home video release in the U.S., and normally I'd be ecstatic because it is one of Jean Renoir's masterpieces. However, as discussed earlier, the most recent restoration doesn't look so hot, at least when it was shown in theaters, and I'm guessing that's what's going to be on the BD.

Diary of a Country Priest - Been expecting this for a long time now. It would've been great to re-issue it with First Reformed in theaters, but that moment has long passed.

The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie - The old StudioCanal BD (based off on an HD transfer from over a decade ago) is all right, but it wouldn't be difficult to do something better.

The Fallen idol - The StudioCanal UK BD looks great, and it came out five years ago - it's about time they put this out in the States.

Nights of Cabiria - This doesn't sound like the disastrous transfer I was fearing, which is great news.

Peeping Tom - Long overdue, the Film Foundation restored it a long time ago, but StudioCanal put out an atrocious release that looked like Vaseline from the excessive grain reduction. That was a decade ago though.

The Tales of Hoffman - The StudioCanal UK BD again looks great, yet another Film Foundation restoration, and once again, it's about time they put this out in the States.

That Obscure Object of Desire - The StudioCanal BD is mediocre. Not terrible, but the transfer looks its age and you can see something off with the grain reduction. A new transfer should easily look better.

Other favorites made it on that list, which I'm very thankful for, so there's a LOT to look forward to!

the only other criterion that was bluray when it went OOP (that criterion is rumored to retain), is Le Cercle Rouge (produced by Susan Arosteguy)
