Will star Bale, Margot Robbie, Michael B Jordan, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, and Robert De Niro and will be greeted with no controversy, thinkpieces, or manufactured outrage whatsoever

Way to take all the fun out of movie-going, Dom. I indulge in The Pictures solely as a means to fatuously raise my blood pressure.

One of these is not like the others... and is the most exciting part of the casting?

Definitely. Just wish he was a lead. Which, based on the little that's available, doesn't seem to be the case. Some day. Hopefully.

Even if he gets a role like what Tarantino allotted him, it could be great

Oh, for sure. It's just hard to believe he hasn't had a starring role in so many years. Cat in the Hat and The Love Guru were garbage, but Myers is way too talented to be doing so little for so long. That may be his own choice, but it's a shame nonetheless. After those failures, I'd hoped he might tackle more dramatic roles (he was excellent in the underloved 54) or -- much less likely, given his reputation as a relentless micro-manager -- lend his talents to someone else's strong vision. Something like Carrey and Gondry had with Eternal Sunshine. Even if the increasingly frugal studios won't roll the dice, Netflix is burning money like oil. With the viewership success of their Adam Sandler deal and nostalgia at an all-time high, they could surely cut him a check. And I'll always be ready for another Austin Powers, especially in light of Myers' scant appearances and Jay Roach's plummeting returns.

Isn't Russell a quick editor? For some reason I thought he gotten a few films in for a late year release under the wire a la Eastwood, but my memory might be faulty. Wouldn't be surprised to see this released on Christmas considering the shooting schedule.

His last two films started filming around Feb/March and were released by the end of the year, so assuming this begins soon I could see it. Same kind of situation as the PTA I feel, very possible but tight on the wire

Also wasn't Mann's Heat shot, edited and released all in 1995?

Maybe, but Russell has done this consistently too, it just becomes less realistic to expect an end-of-year product if he waits to shoot until the summer, and I don't believe there's been an update on when production will start.

Was just wondering as this seems like the perfect candidate to be an awards spoiler

Yeah this is always that anxious grey area of timing, where you know that both this and more excitedly the PTA will get shelved for a whole year until 2021's awards season if they aren't done in time, so there's the attempt to be prescient but really a waiting game with crossed fingers until we get that sudden cigarettesandredvines update

I don't think there has been any more info since last spring, but Myers is making a series at Netflix.

In addition to the above listed actors (minus Michael B. Jordan, who may have left the project), this will also involve John David Washington, Rami Malek, Zoe Saldana, Timothy Olyphant, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts and Alessandro Nivola and is now filming.

Based on anonymous screening information, this film is apparently a “comedic noir set in the 1930s”

Bale obviously has form in this regard but that's still a surprising look. I initially thought it was Matthew McConaughey.

Perhaps this is AW levels of superficial, but God does JDW suffer without the facial hair. Why would they do this to him; he looked great in everything he was in before this

Dear God. That's one of the worst trailers I've ever seen. Bale doing a Dafoe knockoff is bad enough, but the Coen-vibe is a total turnoff. The hardest of hard passes.
