Those are far better extras than Cohen’s releases have had.

This is true but it's a shame Kino didn't carry the 49 minute alternate workprint cut of the film over to their new release. Still worth holding onto your old Kino Keaton blus if you got 'em.

EDIT: Regarding the other extras, The Iron Mule is more relevant than that synopsis lets on. It was directed by Fatty Arbuckle but he didn't take credit as he was in the midst of his blacklisting and it even has a little Keaton in it but he is also uncredited. Also, the French short as far as I can tell is actually a rarity and has never been released on any of the previous Keaton releases (unless I'm overlooking it). That alone will make this a must-buy for me (but I'll also keep the old Kino and get the inevitable Cohen--this may end up being the most represented film in my disc collection, just edging out Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein).

Very true. The Cohen's sole drawback have been the utter lack of extras. And I haven't thrown out my old Kino Keaton Blu-rays. But Kino/Lobster's washed out overbrightened release of the Keaton shorts has made me very wary of what they do.

On the other hand, the Cohen/Ritrovata 4K restorations are tremendous. Technically speaking, I wished Lobster to have the funds to do what Cohen is doing, but it just doesn't seem to be the case.

We're working on it, early next year. BTW, we never announced or confirmed this, so not sure why you're asking "What happened...?"

Kino is putting out Claude Sautet's Max and the Junkmen. Hope this means
they licensed other films from the StudioCanal box set from a couple years back.

Here we go again: KL apparently used the old 2011 master of Kind Hearts and Coronets instead of the new 2019 one SC has put out on Blu in the UK— so there’s a title where KL can say their release is different from the equivalent UK disc!

KL Insider is saying SC is insisting they gave them the 2019 master. If that's the case then SC is outright lying about what they gave KL.

KL Insider is also claiming the Blackmail packaging should have said the AR for the second disc sound version is 1.11:1. They're chalking it up to a packaging typo, and saying it should be an AR that has never been seen before, when all one has to do is see that the dimensions of shapes are stretched, and a proper 1.20:1 AR would correct that. Now, is this SC providing an improper master? Maybe. And if a future European SC release for Blackmail ends up looking the same we can probably conclude that they are the root cause. But the suggestion that we stop trusting our lying eyes in both these cases is irksome.

Both discs are publicly available, so it's easy to check during the project which is which. On top of that, the older disc is obviously not a recent 4K restoration.
While it's problematic when/if such a case happens, having discussed with other labels, studios sending the wrong masters is almost daily business for them and checking what's what too. At least, KL would have been able to let people know what they're getting in the end.

They are at least making additional inquiries to SC again. Here's hoping.
