Is this what is considered a "teaser trailer" these days? Seriously, I don't want to see any future trailer for the film that shows me more than this one does. I miss the days when a horror "teaser" was a crack in an eggshell revealing a stream of light or blood pouring out of an elevator in slow motion.

I hope this won’t be the sophomore slump of Peele following Get Out with the underwhelming Us all over again. Hereditary was my favorite film of 2018 and one of the more impressive debut films I’ve seen in a while. Nothing about this is getting me very excited.

A24 appears to be at least pleased with it, having moved up it's release date up at least a month. I would take that to be a good sign at least. I have high hopes for Midsommar though, just like you. You, Dark Imbecile and myself were the only real defenders of Hereditary on the forum though. Hopefully we don't have to do that again.

Less evocative, less intriguing, and less scary than the teaser. I kind of wish I hadn't watched it.

Yeah me too. It gives away too much. Still, that poster is brilliant and spine-tingling. I'm hoping I like this better than Hereditary.

I hope this is like the trailer for Hereditary. That appeared to give away a lot but actually was misleading about where the film goes.

I’d say so. It’s influence already made itself felt in Hereditary.

I read the first 20 pages of the script, which this trailer strongly resembles (guess not a lot of revising was done), and it's not great. Very awkward in its characterizations and dialogue, so seeing bits of that here definitely has me feeling less than optimistic.

That said, the thematic set-up and some of the visual descriptions showed potential, so hopefully the script/movie gets better as it goes along.

The cast of good looking young people heading for cult doom also makes this feel a lot more like a generic horror film than the toxic family drama of Hereditary. Florence Pugh has been great in everything I’ve seen here though.

It's the Swedish word for Midsummer. The film takes place in Sweden.

Urgh, this sounds worryingly like Jordan Peele and Us where nobody seems to have had the nerve to tell someone who's just had a wildly successful debut that the script for their follow up needs more work before they start shooting.

I don't get to post as often as i'd like so i probably wasn't as vocal as i should've been but i want the record to show that i was and still am very firmly in the pro Hereditary camp. It's one of the best horror movies i've ever seen.

? - I mean I get what you're aiming at but why are we griping about the length of films here before we've seen them? This place is better than that.
