Re: New Films in Production, v.2
Abel Ferrara's Siberia is currently being shot.
Edit: wrong info, sorry. Tommaso is a different film.

Have to see who's directing/starring but the original is a great film so this'll inevitably pale in comparison.Dylan wrote: Mon Feb 25, 2019 6:35 am A remake of Bunny Lake Is Missing is being developed at Screen Gems.

Screen Gems releases a lot of junk. Not a good sign.

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
No director mentioned, but what if it is still a Joe Carnahan project after all these years?

Francis Ford Coppola talking up Megalopolis again. I remember reading articles about this almost 20 years ago now, he apparently had Russell Crowe and Paul Newman lined up, and was doing it with Dreamworks when they were in their brief stride.

Denis Villeneuve will helm Cleopatra, produced by Scott Rudin... Not sure how I feel about this

Is he becoming the new studio lackey?

He's becoming someone who enjoys steady employment. Nothing wrong with that.

I only love a couple of Villeneuve's films so I guess I don't have strong feelings about this, but that just seems like a pretty uninspiring project for him. But maybe there's a hook he has in mind.FrauBlucher wrote: Mon Apr 22, 2019 8:38 pm Denis Villeneuve will helm Cleopatra, produced by Scott Rudin... Not sure how I feel about this

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
So were Sicario and Blade Runner 2049. I'm less enthused about another Dune, but he's choosing "big" projects that don't sound interesting. Nolan is technically a "studio" guy but his projects are interesting and "his". Its a shame to lose Villeneuve to ordinary studio films. But maybe I'm full of shit and both Dune and this would be his own and great.

His own seems irrelevant to me. A lot of great studio product has been impersonal.

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
Well... yeah. But I guess it's just me not finding that story interesting + all the talk about said film and Fincher in the last few years just doesn't really build a case for this being interesting. Again, it might come out good and so far he has scored for me without fail. Just seems a disappointing choice of films atmknives wrote: Tue Apr 23, 2019 6:02 pm His own seems irrelevant to me. Peter Farrelly’s next film will be another bromance, this time set against the backdrop of “the greatest beer run ever”

I think Griffith can lay claim to it even earlier.

I think Méliès did even earlier than that
