There are still 3 copies in Cambridge Fopp, and probably their other stores, at £25.

Someone in handcuffs being "booked." A police procedural perhaps.

Good idea, but it appears to be a Bible. Maybe that could be of some significance?

I was looking for movies with the phrase "last rites" in it (handcuffs -> execution; Bible -> rites) but haven't found anything that suits the Academy label.

Curzon Artificial Eye might have a thing or two to say about that.

Absolutely but it would be like hanging on to Criterion's coat-tails more than somewhat

To fit something I want,

Throw Away Your Books, Rally in the Streets? Could we finally be getting a Shuji Terayama set?

Given that it notably doesn't appear in the Criterion set and is a key Bergman film of his early period, I don't understand how this release could be greeted with any such aspersions

I did presage that with an 'absolutely' for it being welcome, but I didn't really see it as an Arrow Academy title. Mind you Serpent's Egg came a bit out of left field as did Clouzot's Picasso so who knows. If it does turn up I would be more than happy to eat a double dish of humble pie.

Well now I'm doubly confused because how could an early Bergman film be anything but Arrow Academy

I seem to be digging myself into an ever deepening hole. My point was that I couldn't envisage Arrow bringing out a very early Bergman title other than it being missing from the Criterion set. This is my last attempt at an explanation. And yes I will buy it.

Don't know how accurate this is, but someone at the Home Theater Forum says that Janus has Bergman's Prison and Music in Darkness.

Probably not, but I'm throwing out Tengiz Abuladze's Repentence (1987) as my guess. Not sure if that has had a new restoration or not but it fits the picture clue.

Excellent if true-- those two are better than most of the other early Bergman movies Criterion did include. If only they'd throw Eva in the mix and I'd be free of all the Tartan DVDs without Blu-ray equivalents

EDIT I misread this, I thought you were talking about Arrow
