Re: Twilight Time
I suppose this film exists only in my memory as the one they thought was going to be a hit and instead Star Wars happened. Has anyone seen it?

Re: Twilight Time
The synopsis reads as so absurdly melodramatic, I’ve alwas been tempted to check it out.

On their Facebook page, someone asked if the film was any good and TT responded, "Good fun trash!"
Probably as good of an endorsement as any film would need.

Re: Twilight Time
Fun fact: this was one of the very last films Fox put out on DVD before abandoning non-MOD DVD releases

Re: Twilight Time
Back in the late 70s, there were a couple of film publications (I believe "Movies On TV" was one) that confused this film with Welles' unfinished The Other Side of the Wind. How appropriate then that Midnight rears its head again just as the finally-completed Welles feature premiers! Sorry, I've never seen this film...I saw Star Wars instead.

Re: Twilight Time
Watched the TT Blu of My Sister Eileen last night and it looks very good, though I'm still uneasy about how dark it is, which seems to be a common issue with TT Blus. The increased detail is remarkable, though. The sound was unfortunately less impressive. Better than the DVD, sure, but overall don't be like me, wait for a sale (or start regularly attending your local Indicator Release prayer circle)domino harvey wrote: Thu Jun 28, 2018 3:08 pmThe color palette is darker (though I suspect the initial Sony DVD was a lot paler and more subdued than one would expect for a film of the era), but wow at that increased detail-- look at the comparison of Betty Garrett talking to Kurt Kaznar on the stoop-- you can actually see her shirt's pattern now!

Re: Twilight Time
I just noticed that Antony and Cleopatra was previously released on DVD by Warner Bros. Does this mark the first release of a WB film by Twilight Time, or have the rights changed hands?dwk wrote: Sat Aug 25, 2018 2:12 pm November's title have been announced at the HTF

Re: Twilight Time
They released Heaven & Earth, which is owned by WB, but only at the insistence of Oliver Stone IIRC. I don’t think they have an ongoing deal.Feego wrote: Sun Sep 02, 2018 5:34 pmI just noticed that Antony and Cleopatra was previously released on DVD by Warner Bros. Charlton Heston's estate actually controls the rights, which were licensed to Warners and expired

Re: Twilight Time
The Demy and Quine have been discounted surprisingly quickly. I've been holding off in the hope of Indicator releases that will only be announced once I've succumbed to importing, and the accompanying ransom note I'll receive from the GPO to eventually free the discs into my possession, so I might as well jump onto that causality mobius strip now.

Re: Twilight Time
Very concerning news regarding The Iron Horse with larger implications about the Fox/Disney deal and its impact on boutique labels.

I'm not a lawyer, but since when do valid contracts get voided by something like this? Wouldn't any existent deal stand?KJones77 wrote: Fri Sep 21, 2018 2:21 am Very concerning news regarding The Iron Horse with larger implications about the Fox/Disney deal and its impact on boutique labels.

Re: Twilight Time
The license still exists, they have just decided to wait to see if it will be restored (it seems as if Disney may have indicated that funds may not be allocated to restorations, or perhaps a decrease in restoration funding).

Re: Twilight Time
A HD master already exists. It's certainly isnt brand new but it's suitable for a BD release. It has actually been released in France already a few years ago on BD. I'm thus not sure what TT is doing. If they have planned to release it already, surely, they know what is available or if they had to wait for new restoration work ?

They are not canceling though, just taking a wait and see we approach in case it does get restored?

Re: Twilight Time
I was really hoping Short Night would be a barebones release so I wouldn't feel tempted to buy it again.
