Looks like Olive has gotten into the Twilight Time rescue program as they will be releasing Birdman of Alcatraz on Blu-ray on February 27. They are also releasing Great Balls of Fire, Five on the Black Hand Side, and Hallelujah Trail on the same day.

Olive will be handling the US release of Boorman's Hope and Glory, which Sony unexpectedly put out in the UK themselves as a barebones disc for its anniversary last year. It doesn't look like it'll be an Olive signature edition, which is a shame.

I was hoping that Criterion or Shout Factory would put this out, as both would do a great job in terms of supplemental features. Since Olive will release it, I'll take a wait-and-see approach before making a commitment on upgrading my MGM DVD.

Does anyone have advice regarding Godards Numero Deux ? Think this will ever see a Blu-ray release with some bonus materials? Or should I pick up the Olive DVD and just be thankful for that?

I say go for it. I don't see this getting upgraded anytime soon (though an HD MP4 is available on https://www.lacinetek.com/fr/tous-les-films/3442-numero-deux-vod.html for people in righter territories than me, but maybe it's amazing/maybe it's just an upscale). I don't see a blu-ray in any territory. Worldwide the DVDs look mostly out of print.

It's also from his least visually interesting era: he's experimenting with video & multiple monitors, but Comment Ca Va? is on Blu and it doesn't look amazing because of the filmstocks & how it's shot.

Of course, if you buy it then it will be out on Blu in a week. Thanks in advance!

Olive is re-releasing Bound on August 28th as a part of the Olive Signature line.

Wonder where the Kevin McCarthy/Dana Wynter commentary track came from, seeing how Wynter died in 2011 and McCarthy in 2010. The Criterion laserdisc had a commentary with Maurice Yacowar, and I'm not seeing a similar commentary on any of the DVD or blu listings on dvdcompare.net.

EDIT: Aha, apparently Dante recorded it in 2006 but it was shelved! Surprising they're not touting the commentary as an exclusive.

Same. I didn't expect it to sell out so quickly, but figured I might as well snag it while I have the chance without rolling the dice. DeepDiscount had it for 45% off anyways so it was cheaper than most of the Olive Signature line so didn't hurt too badly.

I think the lesson is, never underestimate a popular horror title on Blu-ray. 5000 gone seems surprising to me at first too, but clearly this is still a film with enormous pull
