Re: Passages
That's another closed chapter (Chapter not book I should stress) in a major Hollywood event, regardless of Polanksi's later behavior. I confess I'm not sure how much of Manson was lucid and how much wasn't. I only say that because in interviews he gives very blunt, honest answers that could only be made by someone quite lucid but they are sandwiched between overtly cartoonish behavior. I guess we'll never know.
Although I find the notion crude his early recording work is available to listen to on iTunes no less. Spoiler alert. He isn't The Beach Boys or The Beatles.

Jana Novotná at age 49
Her weeping on the shoulder of HRH The Duchess of Kent, after losing the Wimbledon Singles Final in 1993, was one of sport's most unexpected and moving moments. Dobrou noc Jana.

Re: Passages
It is absolutely worth listening to the gargantuan You Must Remember This series on the Manson murders - still probably the crowning achievement of that podcast in its size and scale, and though it isn't as long on gory detail as some of the more clinical and obsessive books out there, you will absolutely walk away feeling as if the timelines and players are fully fleshed out (no pun intended, I swear) for you. Including Manson, perhaps, as you alluded to, the most unknowable element of the entire affair.Big Ben wrote:That's another closed chapter (Chapter not book I should stress) in a major Hollywood event, regardless of Polanksi's later behavior. Quick update: Karina Longworth spent today giving this series its own podcast feed. It can be found here, titled You Must Remember Manson.

I know she was up there, so it's amazing she lived as long as she did. Her producing work for Shaw Bros. was so important and numerous of the productions she over saw are the perfect examples of the in-house Shaw style.

Indeed. Alexander Kluge's production company set up a site with videos. I am not sure about subtitles though -swo17 wrote:A giant. Here's a link.Lazertron wrote:Peter Berling

From my home town. Used to walk miles and spend hours in the 80's at Yesterday and Today up Rockville Pike where his label was centered. Seems so young to pass away.

I remember as a kid thinking his singing on Andy Griffith was a dub. That show is still good...that and Frasier are my go to Amazon Prime plays.
