I'm a lifelong fan of the Olympics and I'd love to get this as a gift. A little hesitant to spend quite that much of my own money on it, though.

Got some CC GC and Loyalty points and plan to use it for the Olympic set during the 2/2018 CC 50% Flash Sale unless there is any strong indication that it will go OOP fast, then I will get it for Christmas!

Though it's obviously not coming any time soon (as MichaelB's attested to here just within the past few weeks), Arrow does seem to indicate on Twitter that they hope to get into the UHD game at some point, but the market's just not quite there yet.

I'm quite sure every label would.
But only if it was profitable.

The situation at present is that per-unit manufacturing costs are much too high and the market is much too small - basically, the situation Blu-ray was in a decade ago. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Arrow was the first boutique label to take the plunge, as they've clearly been future-proofing their masters for some time, but at present the format is a certain money-loser.

I bet Arrow just can't wait for all the "Bad Taste/Braindead on 4K BD!" requests.

Eraserhead is the obvious guess. Unless there is some pencil stabbing themed slasher film some people know about.

Clearly clues to Ingmar Bergman's Through a Glass Darkly and Carl Th. Dreyer's underrated slasher The Pencilling.

Marcel Carné's Drôle de Drame features a character called Madame Pencil.

(But the chances of that film being an Arrow Video release are roughly on a par with Donald Trump donating his entire fortune to the Southern Poverty Law Centre.)

There is also a Tamil Mystery thriller set in a school called 'Pencil' but I'm not betting the farm on it.

Since they've now posted a clue for it, I guess it won't hurt to confirm that this is absolutely correct

Isn't that with Paramount? Does this confirm a Paramount deal, or am I missing something?

Also, very cool if the Arrow Video clue does turn out to be Eraserhead. Day one for me - I'm a full Lynch convert after many years of not understanding him (well I still don't, but I've grown to enjoy his work at least).

Famously, Paramount's entire pre-1948 library has been managed by Universal for decades, with the exception of The Miracle of Morgan's Creek.

This was most recently demonstrated by Arrow's all-Paramount Marx Brothers box.

I guess the pencil could be for Godard's Numero Deux, but I imagine that would be an Academy release, not Video

Ah right, thanks for that Michael. I was going by the Olive Films release which was apparently licensed via Paramount. Is that just in the US then?

It's not a Paramount film to begin with, so I've no idea.

rapta is right, the Olive is licensed from Paramount as it is part of the Republic Pictures catalog.

The pencil is an obvious hint towards Arrow Records releasing a re-issue of Electriclarryland by the Butthole Surfers.

Could the pencil possibly be Sightseers? Thinking of the sequence with the Pencil Museum and the giant pencil. Too many pencils in this post.

Butthole Surfers? I've been calling them Buttho' Surfers! Why didn't someone tell me? Oh, I've been making an idiot of myself!

I was thinking Into the Mirror, a South Korean film that I used to have the Tartan DVD of.

Because these teasers are never that blindingly obvious.

Remember the sign for "Round-Up" a couple of months ago? "Yay, Miklós Jancsó!" went people oblivious of the fact that the UK rights to The Round-Up are with another label (so are the rights to Mirror, come to that). But it turned out to be Terror in a Texas Town, as Round-Up is a town in Texas.
