Criterion has discontinued the dvd of Burden of Dreams. I believe Blank's son has already confirmed that a blu is being worked on.

Not sure if this is a sign that the Warner/Paramount relationship is on the rocks but the Warner Archive has discontinued all their Paramount MOD titles. The initial deal expired at the end of December but they've extended their dvd/blu/mod distribution arrangement until the end of '16.

Criterion's "Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman" box set is listed as out-of-print on bluray.com. Amazon has stopped selling it but Criterion still has some on their website.

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=257543" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

(My hope is that they re-release it as a 9-disc blu-ray set in smaller packaging without those 18 unnecessary DVDs.)

Warner has been discontinuing chunks of the Paramount catalog on a weekly basis. That arrangement is definitely coming to an end.

Some big Warner stuff on the chopping block this week:

Freaks (dvd)
Ninotchka (dvd)
Time Machine (blu)
Citizen Kane (blu)
Son of Kong (blu)
Sorcerer (dvd)(blu)
Special Effects Collection (Blu-ray): The Son Of Kong / Mighty Joe Young / Them! / The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms
The Beasts from 20.000 Fathoms (blu)

Wait, what ? The Special Effects Collection is already going OOP ? Wow.

As for Fleming's Joan of Arc, DVD Classik's review states that the subs are optional : http://www.dvdclassik.com/test/blu-ray- ... orporation" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's actually not. WB has stated on their FB page that the OOP listing for it was a listing error.

Give em a few days to get stock now that WB's internal system will allow retailers to not think it's OOP.

I'm wondering if they're just changing it over to a standard case. The Canadian one, which has always been in a standard case, appears to be still in print (which is $10CDN on amazon.ca right now for those that want to get it but don't want to pay the already ridiculous prices the American one is already going for).

If anyone's looking for copies of the Time Machine or Sorcerer, check the inventory of your local Barnes and Noble online to see if they're in stock. Mind had both, though I only needed the Time Machine (so Charm City members, there's still a copy of Sorcerer at the Inner Harbor BN)

I was able to get a copy of the Time Machine at Barnes & Noble, too. What's the deal with Citizen Kane? Looks like all versions are out-of-print. I've got to imagine Warner's planning a 75th anniversary release, but for those who haven't yet picked it up you may want to do so.

I suspect they waited for the Digibook version of Sorcerer to go out of stock before printing a regular edition.

Kino's The Hurricane (1937) is going OOP per MisterLime:
The Hurricane (1937) will go out of print as of July 31, 2017 – The title will be available exclusively on our website while supplies last.

So my girlfriend found a dusty old box of DVDs in the garage, including a flipper disc version of Down Periscope. She put it up on Amazon for $47, which was still less than the other shockingly high listings, and saw it sell within minutes. Am I missing something here? Is there any reason this rather forgettable 90's comedy is in such high demand?

The market is a very capricious thing.

It looks like the All About Eve bluray is OOP. It's only available through Amazon's marketplace sellers. I wonder if this can open the door to a Criterion release. Lee Kline is a big fan of Bette Davis. I would overwhelmingly welcome this to the Collection.

It's in stock and in print, I imagine it's only the old digibook packaging version that's getting discontinued, if that. It's already as stacked a disc as there exists, I doubt there is really anything more for Criterion to add to it

It says available through DealsPro, a marketplace seller, fullfilled by Amazon. The Digibook is also being sold from the marketplace. I don't see anything directly from Amazon.

I'm sure Criterion could add more to it, and can definitely improve the PQ. Especially if Fox gives it a 4k restoration which they seem to be doing with their films.
