Perhaps a Blu upgrade of Mamma Roma (a literal mamma + the boy yelling "Row, ma!"). Do they even do newsletter clues for upgrades these days?

This is actually the best guess yet-- unless anyone comes up with something better, I'm convinced

Couldn't it just be Roma?

I think Fellini's Roma is the best guess yet

Could it be I'll Cry Tomorrow (I'll Cry to Ma, "Row!")

One would hope Criterion wouldn't waste one of their Warner chits on it, it's an awful film, but not a terrible guess

Ha... Didn't think about that... How long after a clue is the film released? We still haven't had the His Girl Friday announcement

It's usually three months, so we'll see His Girl Friday for November's announcements

It's anywhere from one month to however much longer we have to wait for Midnight Cowboy.

(Actually, Cronos did take almost two years from clue to release.)

The ones that take longer are usually due to director involvement that needs to be scheduled. So if the filmmaker is dead it usually makes the standard 2-4 months later window.

You got me all excited for UPSTREAM COLOR (though the current Blu release is just fine).

There's no way it's not ROMA or MAMMA ROMA (or - ulp! - both).

Is it really a baby in this picture? Maybe it's a big potato.

Once again it's a double clue. Roma and Gidget Goes to Rome.

So, Criterion has Warner "chits"? And there is a limited number of these aforementioned "chits"? Is this really the case?

Or maybe the 'baby' is actually a large sandwich, onto which the woman is drooling. Her nervous expression must also mean something.

Word was they made a deal for 6 titles. Of course if it goes well they could always go back and attempt more.

.... They've already released/announced nearly a dozen. Based on the speculated titles, it would be safe to assume that this was a deal of around thirty films or so, which is what I believe Criterion had licensed out in a single deal from a studio like MGM in the past.

Going from Bringing Up Baby to Mamma Roma is a roller coaster of emotions.
