Chus was my favorite of the supporting Almodovar women. A scene stealer extraordinaire. She will be missed.

Sports and pornography are two industries that share the unique distinction of making relatively very young people seem like grizzled veterans - but Amber Rayne is a huge name in her field and that's a real shame.

Merle Haggard.

Absolutely brutal, hard to go wrong with any of his 1960s output. For the uninitiated, check out this version of "Green Green Grass of Home."

"Sing Me Back Home" was definitely the first song to come to mind. Not surprising given his health of late, but very sad, loved Hag. Loved his music, loved his personality and loved his interviews. One of my favorite answers was his response to a question about George W. Bush, when someone asked him if he'd support his run in 2000. Paraphrasing, but he said "I consider him a close personal friend…but I have a lot of friends who shouldn't be president."

I don't know his films, but I've enjoyed his numerous contributions to Trailers From Hell a great deal. Well worth checking out, if you guys haven't already.

Victoria Wood - who I suspect is all but unknown outside Britain, but I think most of my compatriots would agree that she was right up with David Attenborough and Alan Bennett when it comes to the position of Undisputed National Treasure. And she was only 62.

(Incidentally, describing her as just "a comedian" is about as accurate as saying the same about Bennett, and for identical reasons.)
