Re: Passages
Sad to read that Burton's failing health is the reason he didn't appear in Creed, though I'm grateful to have the explanation since it'd been bothering me. Besides Stallone and Burt Young, Burton was the only actor to appear in all 6 original Rocky movies. Stallone gave him a terrific monologue in their final film together.

Zdeněk Smetana
The above link says he has 400 films to his name. Looks like his IMDB listing needs some serious updating.

Frank Kelly, who is probably best known as Father Jack from the Father Ted series. I could tell you more, but that would be an ecumenical matter!

Re: Passages
I still think Father Ted tackled some of the topical issues of the day decades before Spotlight:
"I hope this isn't some kind of hideaway for paedophile priests. That whole thing disgusted me"
"Well Niahm, we're not all like that. Say if there's 200 million priests in the world and 5% of them are paedophiles, that's only 10 million."

"Hairy Japanese bastards!"
18 years to the day of the death of his Father Ted co-star Dermot Morgan too. Here, have a Father Jack supercut.

Humbert Allen Astredo
Probably just a big deal to me here but just a huge bummer, he was the best part of my favorite show, playing a mustachioed kimono-clad evil warlock like no one else possibly could.

Also played John Smith in Stephen Frears' 'The Deal', the leader of the Labour Party whose premature death caused the longstanding Blair-Brown feud.colinr0380 wrote:Frank Kelly, who is probably best known as Father Jack from the Father Ted series. ...which was a bit unfortunate as it meant that my wife and I were shouting "Feck!" "Arse!" and "Drrrink!" every time he appeared.
It's probably just as well that it went straight to TV, all things considered.

Veteran British editor Jim Clark, whose autobiography Dream Repairman is one of the best accounts of backroom film-industry life that I've ever read. Incredible filmography too.

Re: Passages
Surprised to see no mention here of Tony Warren who died on March 1st, aged 79. He was the creator of the longest running television serial in the world, Coronation Street, a show which has been ever present in my life. I grew up watching it in Ireland with my parents, and now here in Canada, my teenage stepdaughter has been watching it independently. Having been on so long, the show has the strange effect where I can walk into the room and instantly remember some character's whole lives as if they were real people in my life.
