Hopefully it is just temporary. Have ordered from Lira.hu since 2009 and with delight.

There is one other Hungarian online-shop where I ordered some discs couple years ago, called Libri.hu. Was curious at the time whether the shipment costs were less there but if I recall they weren't any cheaper than at Lira.hu (they shipped the package via courier, can't remember which company brought it at my doorstep). Libri.hu was only in Hungarian at the time but now I see that it also offers the option of switching the service into English as well.

Another interesting title upcoming from MaNDA, ​Ének a búzamezőkről / Song of the Cornfields (István Szőts, 1947). Impressive extras as well.

The second film (and only one of the three films made in Hungary in 1947) from Szőts whose previous work Emberek a havason / Men in the Alps (1941) was also released on DVD late last year.

Having just revisited István Nemeskürty's book on Hungarian Film history this is more than welcomed news. I was starting to become desperate in seeking out Szőts only other film. If people haven't gotten Emberek a havason they are missing out on a beautiful realist film with some stunning cinematography of Transylvania.

If I understand this announcement correctly, the next Jancsó film to be released on DVD by MaNDA is The Round-Up.

A restoration did the festival rounds not that long ago, so I've been expecting this. As with The Red and the White, it should be a substantial improvement on the Second Run disc even if it's only a DVD.

(Second Run's other Jancsós had superior sources to begin with - MaNDA themselves in the case of two of them.)

Was expecting It Happened in Europe (1948) this year. Hopefully in 2016, then.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, The Exile (1914) directed by Michael Curtiz should be coming on DVD at some point. It was restored couple years ago, fortunately some of his Hungarian films survive.

In such cases, I'd favour the Second Run every time - the subtitles will most likely be more idiomatic, and there'll be a lengthy booklet essay.

Ildiko Enyedi––when is she going to get some real DVD releases? I have the disc of My Twentieth Century (I believe it's an Hungarian disc), but I am just a tad bit surprised her 1994, David-Bowie-produced film, Magic Hunter isn't on DVD somewhere. Simon the Magician has a terrible dvd, and is not that great a movie, but these first two films deserve something more than what they've got. A blu-ray of both, quickly, before my heart breaks.

And I can wholeheartedly recommend the Hungarian Blu-ray of Liza, a rókatündér / Liza the Fox-Fairy - the best comedy I've seen for quite some time, with catchy J-pop tunes to boot!

I have the Second Run DVD, but I'll be picking up The Round-Up for the screen tests and the Jancsó short film. MaNDA are usually pretty good with subtitling the extras on their higher-profile releases - fingers crossed.
