wouldn't surprise me given their relationship with Pennebaker. keeps my hope up for a release of Depeche Mode 101

October is generally the most boring month for me since horror is my least favorite, but last October was probably Criterion's best month ever, so you never know...

The Koker Trilogy
Mulholland Drive
The Brood
Boy
Kwaidan (upgrade)
Le Samourai (upgrade)

I just have a weird feeling there's going to be a boxset again. it'll probably be the Before Trilogy though, which I don't give a fuck about

Criterion just teased a "big announcement" on Twitter.

In all seriousness though - my hope is that they've renewed a relationship with StudioCanal and those titles will be coming back into print. That would definitely qualify as a big announcement to me.

Definitely a title from the WB library that makes sense for them to inquire about, especially since the pre-New Line folded-in Blu-ray is degrained and digitally smoothed over so poorly.

just listed off a bunch of movies/boxsets on twitter I wanted, but I think I would want this more

it's going to be Mulholland Drive though, unfortunately.

Isn't it possible the "big" annoucement is the Apu Trilogy, because it hasn't officially been announced yet?

The big announcement will surely be a box. A box of what is the question here. Let's ponder this endlessly with no evidence to differentiate one guess from another

A month early, though, as it was stated as being an upcoming November release, not October.

"big" annoucement in Criterion's book would only mean Mulholland Drive. Remember "Big Cat out of the bag" from couple of year's ago? Or, it may be possible that they are referring to “BEFORE” Trilogy! These are definitely BIG for drawing customers.

With matching announcements of Third Man 4K and Tales of Hoffman? :)

Maybe they're going to transition to Triple Format releases with Ultra-HD Blu-rays, BDs, and DVDs...

Two years ago, this Spanish language interview with del Toro, he said that Bleak House 2 would be included on the Criterion Pan's Labyrinth.
"Estamos viendo que para el Criterion de El laberinto del Fauno, ahí poner la 2a parte de mi tour por The Bleak House, ahí estaría ese featurette".

Possibilities:
1. A big title
2. Re-acq of SC titles
3. Acq of an entire filmmaker's library e.g. Harold Lloyd
4. Change in online streaming platform, options

I think we can all agree that it's best if we can wait for confirmation that the Studio Canal blu-ray of The Third Man is acceptable before Criterion announces it has the rights back, that way we can sell our editions for lots of money.

Hmmm. If they are announcing something big, I'm guessing it's Chaplin's Complete First National Films. We know it's coming one of these days since all the titles are on Hulu.

But, I wouldn't sneeze at a return of the StudioCanal titles. (They semi-hinted a while back with their photo of the stack of booklets that, maybe, The Man Who Fell to Earth might be in play.)

The return of Studio Canal titles would be good, but also you know we'd all feel a bit let down by a month of old releases...
