I just received my Criterion Newsletter year-end round-up e-mail and got inspired by it, so I made this little Criterion 2005 desktop background. I thought other people might like it, so I'd post it here.

It looks really cool if you tile it.

There are 54 covers. Why can't you just do 6 x 9 and not have the open square? And then repeat it like bathroom tile.

cause this looks prettier?

perfect size for desktop, and It fits, with no cropping from the taskbar at the bottom, and I upped the contrast only a smudge, to make it pop.

I did one better, my resolution is 1280 by 1024 so I expanded the image and picked which covers I wanted repeated instead of having the tiled look

I liked the idea of adding the "box art coming soon"

I'll do one. a massive one, then downsize it in all types. any suggestions for how many titles i should leave room for, and what should be included on it?

Sorry, daniel, I hadn't looked closely enough and just assumed it was a smaller version of the other. Thanks!

HERE IS THE PAGE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR: CRITERION DUNGEON

Thanks for the praise of my crazy sticker project. It is now completed (with the stickers I hold) and I would still love to get a little help with the ones I'm missing (100 dpi scans). I have added a Wallpaper section as well. I won't be doing every spine number, only the ones I love and if anyone has the urge to submit one, I would add it as well. Here is the link to the new section: http://www.criteriondungeon.com/. Will be adding 304, 302 and 307 anytime soon! I'm especially found of #306 - Le Samouraï

Hammock, can you please do one for Viridiana? I'd love to have that enlarged on my desktop.

Here is a wallpaper I did for Videodrome:

Hammock has been using hi res scans, so unless he has viridiana now...

now, scanning is something I cannot do, but I'm pretty happy with these results.

Relax, take a deep breath and accept that we get bored between the new covers getting posted and do strange stuff to stay alive...

once again, serious kudos on the wallpapers, but...

i do have a small request. how difficult would it be *and if you want you can just tell me how to do it* to have some of those *brazil in particular* bear to the LEFT instead of right? i'm a mac user so i'm all backward from you PC people. and Brazil would look so nice if my icons weren't covering up the artwork. just a suggestion/question. thanks g funk

I agree. The Brazil wallpaper is fantastic. Now you just need to have these available for both PC and MAC...

I was kind of bored tonight and decided I wanted to center The Man Who Fell to Earth. I ended up playing with the clone brush and fading it a bit, but figured I'd throw it up here just for kicks. I don't like the text as much faded and it's also a little bit off center (could not get the alignment tool to work right at all) but oh well.

Image

Oh also, is there any hope of a Seventh Seal background without the pink lines behind the text? My copy definitely doesn't have pink lines and the larger image on amazon.com also does not have the pink lines. I still use the Ran background. 8-)
