There's one print of Nostalghia and I don't believe it was ever advertised as a "new restoration", I believe it was just a new 35mm print that was struck from existing materials.

Yay, "Sorcerer" on the big screen! And I'm pretty sure a lot of those Alec Guinnes movies aren't readily available on home video, which is my No. 1 criteria as to what gets picked as must-see stuff whenever it plays a retrospective.

Just saw a print of LOST HORIZON a couple of months ago, alongside a partial Capra retrospective. Spectacularly awful film.

A pretty timid calender overall, but the Roemer series is very exciting news, as is Boom!. And I've wanted to give Fedora a whirl for a while.

New restoration of The Conformist as well. Criterion has been rumored to have licensed it from Paramount.

The only problem with that is that The Conformist is credited as "a Kino Lorber release." It credits Raro USA (who partnered with Kino Lorber for distribution) with the restoration. Raro recently claimed that they held the U.S. rights and would be releasing a U.S. Blu-ray. Paramount is not being credited for The Conformist anywhere on the Film Forum calendar. The last restoration and theatrical re-release, which I saw a decade or so ago definitely came from Paramount. Is this another La Dolce Vita situation?

The Fall/Winter repertory Calendar Highlights are Orson Welles 100 years, Mario Monicelli retrospective and a Chandler, Hammett, Woolrich and Cain lineup.

The last two calendars didn't excite me too much. This season I kind of need to see most of these films.

Also really great job using a Pauline Kael quote to promote Citizen Kane.

Well now that I'm a member, I'm definitely making more of an effort to go to at least one showing per interesting retrospective. Thinking The Man In The Eiffel Tower for Laughton, Broken Blossoms for Griffith, and for Sturges I'd like to see Miracle of Morgan's Creek and Unfaithfully Yours (since I already have Sullivan's on blu, will have Palm Beach and Lady Eve hopefully in the near future).

Any of those earlier films great, though? Hail the Conquering Hero looks most interesting, Mad Wednesday and the Power And the Glory as well.

Hail the Conquering Hero is my favourite of Sturges' directorial efforts after The Lady Eve, it's truly a delight. I haven't seen The Power And the Glory but for what it's worth, it's structure is said to have been a major inspiration for Citizen Kane

So I've read. Everything playing is 35mm making almost all of these must-sees now (except Morgan's Creek, which seems to be the only DCP, unfortunately!)
