Tomas Milian (ALMOST HUMAN, TRAIFFIC) stars as an embittered Interpol agent haunted by the slaying of his wife and relentlessly stalking the gang of bank robbers responsible.
who wants to bet that the Emergency Squad cover has that spelling mistake on it? I'm almost positive the retards doing the cover art aren't even reading the synopsis. they just copy paste, format, and send it off, to more ignorant people who can't proofread.

Is Rossellini's, Socrate (1970) with Jean Sylvère as the great philosopher worth seeing? Is his death scene represented properly, ie. Socrates fearlessly and beautifully makes one of the most powerful gestures ever?
Is it likely that we'll see a region 1 release from No Shame or should I go for the Italian disc when it is released?
Wisdom begins in wonder.

February brings us THE LUCIANO ERCOLI'S DEATH BOX SET! Seriously, how retarded is that title. It doesn't even make grammatical sense. whatever, I love giallo. It will be mine. Details:
Edit: they changed it, and the artwork... It makes sense now. "The Luciano Ercoli Death Box Set," I wonder If I was the only one who emailed them about the mistake...Get primed for two wild, stylish giallo shockers of the 1970s from director Luciano Ercoli (FORBIDDEN PHOTOS OF A LADY ABOVE SUSPICION), starring Susan Scott (DEATH CARRIES A CANE), Simon Andreu (THE BLOOD-SPATTERED BRIDE) and Frank Wolff (GOD FORGIVES…I DON'T).
In DEATH WALKS ON HIGH HEELS, Parisian nightclub singer, Nicole Rochard (Susan Scott) is stalked by a demented masked man who may be the killer of her diamond thief father. With the help of a friend, Dr. Robert Matthews (Frank Wolff) she hopes to elude her pursuer by traveling to the English countryside. But Nicole's merciless pursuer does not give up so easily, and soon more murders occur.
Susan Scott returns in DEATH WALKS AT MIDNIGHT as Valentina, a hot-tempered fashion model. When she's duped into trying an experimental psychedelic by her fast-talking boyfriend (Simon Andreu) during a photo-shoot, she inadvertently witnesses a gory murder by a man with a spiked glove in the empty, next door building. It won't be the last!
Hallucinogenic drugs, smart-aleck heroines, jewel thieves, macho tabloid reporters, strippers, intrepid police inspectors, plus crazy chases, brutal fist fights, spiked-metal gloves and myriad use of the zoom lens – not to mention delirious nightclub scenes, escalating body counts and countless red herrings! –NoShame is proud to present for the first time on DVD uncut two deranged examples of the sexy, Italian thriller genre - the giallo.
Special 3-disc edition, including The Sound of Love and Death - The Very Best of Stelvio Cipriani. A collection of classic giallo and poliziotteschi film scores.

Coming on May 30th:
[quote]Padre Pio (2000)
Sergio Castellitto (Luc Besson's THE BIG BLUE) stars in this compelling religious biography of Francesco Forgione (1887-1968), better known to Catholic believers as the modern day saint Padre Pio. Directed by Carlo Carlei (THE FLIGHT OF THE INNOCENT), this made-for-TV film dramatizes the Franciscan priest's intense devotion, which manifested itself in the appearance of the stigmata -- the wounds suffered by Christ at Calvary - for over fifty years. Based on the book by Renzo Allegri, the award-winning PADRE PIO deals with seeming religious miracles in a skeptical modern age and features JÂ

Girl With a Suitcase, previously released as the claudia cardinale title in the Cinema Sirens Collection, has quite possibly the worst transfer I've ever watched all the way through, and only an english dub.

a screen from the Koch DVD...

It's a great little film, I can't wait to see this in an impeccable widescreen transfer with original italian audio.

It was also released by one-note studio Ivy, but I'll bet NoShame transfer will be better. Here's a DVD Savant review of that disc.

the only thing that is bothering me so far is how they seem to think that 1.66:1 is better as letterboxed, than anamorphic. Uno Bianca, and now Padre Pio, and St. Francis have all been released this way.
oh, and from that dvdtimes review: "Both films come with optional English subtitles. On Violent Summer they are white, while on Girl With A Suitcase they are, for some unknown reason, yellow."
argh...

oh man... you know a label is about to die when they start repacking releases into boxes of 2 after only 1 year on the market.
Ultimate Crime Box Set
Ultimate Exploitation Experience
I hope this isn't the case, but they haven't been updating the news at all...

Pretty sure this wasn't listed last time i looked a few days ago and what i find a bit more 'disturbing',as opposed the re-packaging,is this LE route they seem to be getting involved in...ie..The Emilio Miraglia Boxset etc...first an action figure, now a stone amulet.....SncDthMnky wrote:I hope this isn't the case, but they haven't been updating the news at all...
