There are two clips on youtube already. Low resolution, but I think they give a fair idea how good it will look:

And thank you everybody who contributed or got the word out! We'll be finalizing the restoration this week and getting it ready for it's premiere in Berlin.

And Monday starts our next project so it never stops!

I know On the Bowery has been getting all of the applause and that I'm late to the party, but I have to admit it is the second feature Good Times, Wonderful Times that blew my socks off. It's more of an Antonioni documentary than any of his I've seen heightening the horror of these situations by revealing how distanced we are from it. To say the least I was very unnerved once the archive footage started somehow more so than had I not seen the guests earlier. Of course cutting back to the party makes it horrifying in a totally different way. It's like a fear of shallowness or even the fortunate man's perception of horror. Even with the minor complaint that it doesn't look toward American horror enough (there are parts of the US now and certainly at the time that can be called victim of human callousness for example) the film is such a powerful attack upon its audience members who say but do not do that I feel comfortable calling it one of the best films I've seen.

Milestone has released Samuel Beckett's only contribution to the cinema, FILM starring Buster Keaton, for institutional sales, but have announced a home DVD and Blu-Ray will be released this year (2013).

UPDATE: Just got an email from Dennis Doros at Milestone and he said that the DVD and Blu-Ray releases of FILM has been pushed back to Fall 2014 (tentatively) because they are in the process of producing a feature length film on the making of the film.

Dear friends,

Deep in the dungeons of Milestone this summer, we had a burst of energy between restorations and got some of our favorite DVDs back in print. They are the same releases as before but with new covers and best yet, a lower price! So if you're tired of seeing $198 for an out-of-print DVD on Amazon, now's the time to buy.

For the next month these four DVDs will be exclusive on the Milestone website. The retail price for each is now $24.95 and of course, we also have an additional 20% discount if you buy on our website. AND if you buy any three DVDs from Milestone this month, you'll get a special surprise from the Elves in the shipping department! The titles are:

MAD LOVE: THE FILMS OF EVGENI BAUER
http://milestonefilms.com/products/mad- ... geni-bauer

OLIVE THOMAS COLLECTION: EVERYBODY'S SWEETHEART and THE FLAPPER
http://milestonefilms.com/products/oliv ... ection-the

PICCADILLY
http://milestonefilms.com/products/piccadilly

WITHOUT LYING DOWN: FRANCES MARION AND THE POWER OF WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD (with Mary Pickford's A LITTLE PRINCESS)
http://milestonefilms.com/products/with ... ywood-1917

Are you planning to put old Mary Pickford DVDs back to print any time in the future?
Thanks!

We are actually looking to re-do some of them with newer restorations like we did with SPARROWS. That'll take a little more time. Which one are you looking for?

Stella Maris is still available on our website at http://www.milestonefilms.com/products/stella-maris" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; thought it's not discounted because we only have 50 or so left. A LIFE ON FILM will hopefully reappear as a bonus feature one day.

My Best Girl is the most asked-for title and I'm hoping we'll work with UCLA in the future to come out with a new version based on their restoration.

Is The Bat Whispers on the cards at all, either as a new BD or a repressing of the old disc?

First, I hope you all will buy the reprinted DVDs we just made so we can justify more! :D

The Bat Whispers is a special case because the original wide-screen version was transferred before 16:9 was popular and so we could bring out that DVD again, but it just doesn't seem right. So I'm hoping we can find a reason to do a new transfer in the future (a foreign TV sale or perhaps TCM). It's pretty expensive these days to do a film twice (both the wide-screen and 1.33:1 versions).

A new theatrical series coming in 2014 from Milestone, Martin Scorsese, the Film Foundation, Fundacja Propaganda, DI Factory, Cyfrowe Repozytorium Filmowe, Kino RP, Tor Studio Filmowe, Zebra Studio Filmowe and Studio Filmowe KADR.

http://www.mspresents.com/

There's also a Facebook page to find out where the series will be playing as we take bookings in the next few weeks. That's over here at https://www.facebook.com/mspresents?fref=ts

And to answer the next question, we don't know about home video releases yet, we're just very happy to be releasing the films on the big screen for now. :-D

THANK YOU for sharing! I was unaware of this amazing project.

The restoration video on the website is not working for me - do you know who is behind the restorations of these films?

Milestone's second crowdfunding effort is for NOTFILM - what sounds like a fascinating essay film/documentary on Samuel Beckett's FILM.

Question for Dennis: will there be a Blu-Ray of the FILM/NOTFILM release? Your website seems to indicate as much but only DVDs are offered in the indiegogo rewards

Yes, there will be DVDs and BluRays of FILM/NOTFILM! I'll see if there's a way to correct my mistake on Indiegogo.

And thanks for the shout out! Producing a film came as a bit of a surprise to us after 30+ years in the business, but it's exciting.

Yes, there will be DVDs and BluRays of FILM/NOTFILM! And there's an added bonus of the BluRay now on the site.

Dear Dennis -- I swear a blood oath that (so long as I am still alive) I will buy your Blu-Ray release of "His Best Girl" when it comes out someday. (Just saw your DVD release -- and totally loved the film).

Michael, we are hoping the Pickford Foundation will work with us to release UCLA's tinted MY BEST GIRL restoration for a BluRay release in the next year.
